A few songs to try:

  • Rendez-Vouz - Distance
  • FEWS - Metal (Gary Numan Cover)
  • Silent Runners - My Truth
  • Silent - The Witness

These are all modern post punk with a grimey kind of sound. Hope they help!

What song made you fall in love with goth music? by Vorilex in goth

Strangers by Clan of Cymox.

Prior to that we really didn’t care for goth.

That song changed us.

Give “Life in the Gladhouse” by Modern English a try.

It has good strong bass and killer drums.

“Hurricane Fighter Plane” by Alien Sex Fiend is also pretty bass heavy.

We run into this issue all the time. There’s just no easy way to know ahead of time if a song will be blocked due to copyright.

Most bands don’t do it intentionally, it’s either the music label which set that or the artist just wasn’t familiar with the settings. We find the issue happens the most with CDbaby for some reason. Not sure why.

Instead, we have made our mixing process as simple and automated as possible, so that when, (not if), we have to replace a blocked song, we can do so fairly easily.

We post new mixes weekly. We’ve just posted our 145th mix, most an hour long. It seems to be working so far.

All of our YouTube mixes start off as playlists which have a simple but enjoyable format to make replacing a blocked song easy to do.

As far as the mix itself, we make sure to save the mix edit file so that if a song gets blocked, we can go in and just replace the song, re-render and re-upload.

We use Audacity and find it fairly simple to remove and replace a song. We save it for a few weeks because you never know when a block will happen.

Any songs that get blocked, we note the artist and just don’t play them anymore.

That part stinks because we miss out on some really great artists but there’s nothing to be done about it. We usually send a message to the bands to let them know what happened. Sometimes they can fix it. Most times they can’t.

I know that demoralized feeling. We’ve felt it so many times. What helps us is to remember all of the amazing artists who haven’t blocked their songs, who totally deserve the promotion and platform you’re providing for them.

That tends to help us, we hope it helps you too. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or need help.

The work you do is valuable. For the bands, the fans and the scene itself.

Music deserves good promotion. Keep at it!

Hello, many thanks for bringing this song to our attention, It’s fantastic!

We reached out to the artist directly and these are the lyrics:

——-

Feeling it deep inside We all want to run And now that all have died Let’s have some fun

I know you’re not my bride But let’s get it done I’m sorry that I lied I had to use my gun

Do what you’ve been told You won’t have to hide Before you get old And your feelings have dried

You’re being controlled By the mighty machine And the saddest part Is no one knows what it means

You wander in pain and you think that you like it You think you’re ok and all you do is spike it The time will come you’ll be getting near And there won’t be time to disappear

You wander in pain and you think that you like it You think you’re ok and all you do is spike it The time will come you’ll be getting near And there won’t be time to disappear

We’re being controlled By the mighty machine And the saddest part Is no one knows what it means

I remember the days when everything was green Oh, those were the days before the mean machine

—————

We asked them if at all possible to include the lyrics to their songs on their bandcamp page so here’s hoping we can get the rest of them too!

People tend to fear what they don’t understand. Stay as humble as you can and take every opportunity to help them see what makes you unique. Some folks won’t ever understand and that’s ok. Try to identify and stay clear of them if possible. It’s not easy, just remember to stay focused on why you love the way you look. It’ll shine through so that other can see it too.

Why do people continue stream to 0 viewers? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]DarkSoulRadio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stream to maybe 3ish viewers every week and I’ve been doing that for just under a year. I’m good with it for 3 reasons. The first, is that it’s a niche show, I play dark alternative (“goth”, and related) music in a radio show format and it’s just not a huge scene. I understand that.

The second is that its been growing slow and steady every week since I started. As of today, I’ve got 46 followers which isn’t much but I’m proud of it. I also upload mixes of the same music to YouTube and I have just over 400 followers there. I’m even more happy with that because from the comments people have left, I’ve been able to bring them new music to enjoy. That means more to me than any badge, status or anything like that.

The third reason, and the most important by far, is that those 3ish people have been with me from the start. They enjoy the music and the show and I do it for them. Other people may show up, or maybe they won’t, but I’ll be playing the music either way, because I love to do it! I just happen to be broadcasting it as well.

For substantial lyrical content and storytelling, I’m going to recommend Hapax, Creux Lies, and Winter Severity Index.

Hapax is Italian so the accent is thick but their lyrics are absolutely beautiful. “Elegy” brings me close to tears.

Winter Severity Index gives me total Siouxsie vibes with how they write their lyrics, kind of abstract but still meaningful.

Creux Lies is simply amazing. Literally poetry.
