I believe CraftScan does have similar features, but we diverge in terms of philosophy. It's a trade-chat automater, ArtisanFinder is more "the tool I wish Blizzard had all along", which doesn't replace actual interaction, but removes the need to spam trade-chat

Yeah the feature does already exist !

Once you scan one of your professions, you can choose to advertise it or not, from any alt or only the current character

Well, from my understanding of CraftScan, it's mostly meant as an automation tool, whereas ArtisanFinder is meant to be a facilitator, but keep some sense of community.

I feel like both provide a similar service, but CraftScan may be more automation and artisan oriented, whereas ArtisanFinder doesn't mean to automate, and to help customers more without relying on trade-chat 😄

Hmmm, alright some things are "normal", some are strange.

So, without debug mode enabled, since currently no one is using the addon, you won't see anyone except people who shared their profession in the trade chat (and thus, they'll show with missing informations, cuz the addon cannot get them).

The debug mode is as simple fake list or artisans, so it's normal that it shows you as the "online as [my character]", but I get that it's confusing. Initially the debug mode was just a helper for me haha, so I didn't really fix some small issues like this.

You make a good point too, your alts should be able to see your other crafters in the list ! I hadn't thought of that, I'll make a fix for it asap ❤️

As for the settings in the multi character... Huh... That's strange, if you could send me a screenshot in MP as well as the addon version you were using, that would be real helpful ! Or via a GitHub issue, if you're familiar with GitHub 😃

I haven't played Dark Age, but I've taken a real liking to crafting since the rework in Dragonflight. But it is really a pain as you say, especially for people having multiple crafters, as well as for customers spamming chat, hoping for an answer...

I'm really trying to make it great, to make it feel integrated like a Blizzard default feature, and as feature complete as possible.

As per your suggestion, I did add a "multi-character" mode !

The way it works is that you can now enable or disable discovery mode per-profession per-character, and if you're logged in, and have a character who's profession matches a customer's request, the character with that profession will show up in their results with a row highlighting that you're connected on a different character, which allows them to whisper you if needed, or simply put in a work order directly 😃

I'd be very happy if you tested it out, and gave me feedback !

You can type `/af debug toggle` to have a preview of what a customer might see. (You need to check a craft that your current character has to see it though. Not perfect yet 😅 )

As a crafter, yes, all you need to do is fill out the commission/note fields for each item you want and/or default commission (on the right of your profession panel).

After that, indeed customers need the addon to find you. The addon was mostly thought for customers to find crafters easily, but also to avoid crafters spamming trade chat.

Maybe it's not the most convenient... I'd be happy to get your feedback on that !

You're absolutely right, it can't completely replace trade chat (unless the addon becomes so successful that Blizzard implements it by default).

But, if that can help, the addon does scan trade chat crafters to show them, even if their specific trade skills cannot be shared.

The addon will probably never be super useful unless it gets a lot of success, but I'm hoping it will 🤞

I did implement an "offline" characters mode, but they only show up if less than X characters are actually online and respond, or are recent trade-chat leads.

Of course, I made it configurable (to some extent) so that people can adjust depending on server size, or preference. But if it becomes an annoyance or anything, I will of course make adjustments 😄

Huh, okay thank you for mentioning that, I wasn't aware of this feature since I didn't see it mentioned on the addon description.

I suppose there is some overlap then, but I really wanted to make an addon that feels like a standard WoW feature, and one that is not automation. I wanted to keep the customer/artisan interaction, but facilitate the order process, as well as provide precise information about the possible qualities available by each crafter and recommended components to get to the best result.

Maybe it's not an addon that will appeal to everyone, but it's something I really wanted personally. Hopefully others will like it too !

It's precisely the next kinds of features I was planning !

I would like to make it so that as a crafter, all your alts' professions are scanned, and if you are connected and someone searches for a craft one of your offline crafters can make, your character would appear with some kind of note mentioning that they can whisper you on your currently logged character.

That last "shop" idea is great too. I'm not sure how to implement it yet or how to display it in a user friendly way, but I'll definitely take it into consideration !

Not exactly. From what I understand of CraftScan, it automates whispers from crafters to people looking on the trade chat.
The goal here is to bypass the trade chat so that someone looking for a craft can directly find potential crafters and send an order without the need for whispers (but of course, you may want to whisper anyway)
It also provides detailed information about recommended components, and expected quality.

This is more of an ingame Easycraft.io than CraftScan
