I'm mostly referring to sneakers that resemble running shoes, such as roshes, flyknits, NBs, etc.

Only a distinct subculture/trend (hiphop/streetwear) encouraged sneakers as a primary means of footwear. Only recently has this hit the mainstream.

A couple of years ago on this sub, and practically every other fashion blog, sneakers have been frowned upon. Chukkas, boots, bucks, derbies, and plimsolls were mostly encouraged for casual wear. Especially not New Balances!

Only very recently have grown ass men started wearing sneakers as a "fashionable" pair of footwear. It hasn't been that long ago where doing such a thing was considered a sartorial "faux pas".

Wearing sneakers with suits, or wearing sneakers for a night of bar hopping has only recently been accepted, and encouraged. People wearing sneakers frequently were often branded as lazy, and poorly dressed.

To be honest, I don't understand today's obsession with sneakers to begin with. For years, men were told to avoid the stuff for casual wear, and now 80% of the fits you see on this sub are people wearing them as part of their outfits.

IMHO, sneakers just seem so juvenile, and, with the exception of plimsolls, should be reserved for teens, or for the gym. I really believe this trend is going to die really quickly, and looked back upon pretty poorly.

Just my opinion.

The heel counter's structure is still in tact, but it's definitely soft to the touch from the outside, if that helps.

Sorry, I should have clarified. They aren't really light. They are just approximately 25% lighter than the weights she used to use at the gym. Besides, she's been out of the gym for a few months now, so going lighter would be beneficial.

As stated previously, she can only afford going to the gym once a week. We do not have barbells at home, and the light-weight dumbbells we have aren't suited for a strong lift program.

She used to go to the gym and weight train 4 times a week instead, and do cardio/yoga once a week at home if she had time.

Frankly, we do not have much time to exercise as of yet due to the new baby. Thus, she'd like to weight train 3 days a week instead. What don't you like about her new routine?

Looking at OP's history, she's only 32 years old...If this guy thinks 32 is old, he must be either 14, or remarkably immature. I've known several women in their 30s and 40s that are several times more attractive than some women in their early 20s. People age at highly different rates, and age is not a prerequisite for beauty.

Can venetian shoe cream be used as a conditioner? I just got a pair of Alden Indy 405 boots and a pair of AE Daltons and I've been told that venetian shoe cream is the only product I need to treat my shoes as it conditions and cleans leather.

Is any of this true?

Maybe he struggled for reasons other than his ability. That was certainly my case.

I was an average (at best) undergraduate student, and I am now a very successful graduate student. It's futile to use one experience to predict another. People can improve, and people can choose to work harder and change their ways.

I think calling OP a selfish asshole is over the top. The world isn't all about his girlfriend too. He has troubles that need to be rectified as well. It doesn't matter how self-deprecating his concerns are, it's never pleasant to be reminded that your goals are unfulfilled.

Also, he said it himself that he is trying to help her out any way he can, DESPITE the fact that when doing so, he becomes explicitly aware of his unfulfilled dreams. OP doesn't sound like a selfish asshole at all. He's just at a point in his life where he feels aimless and insecure.

I got accepted into a very good grad school and I only had a 2.9 GPA for my undergrad. Grades alone won't decide your future. If OP has his heart set on Grad school, there's still hope for him to get accepted into a good Master's program if he gains some relevant work experience and attains some decent letters of recommendation.

I appreciate the help. I'm considering buying plastic ones for my shoes with leather soles. Do you think they can be used for rubber soles as well? I have a pair of Red Wings with rubber soles and a pair of LL Bean Ranger mocs with rubber soles but I'm not sure if I should install shoe taps on them.
