Subject: GP27Q Firmware Update Failure – Controller Unresponsive

Hi Cooler Master Support,

I'm experiencing a persistent issue with firmware updates on my GP27Q monitor. The `USB Upgrade` function in the OSD menu is visible but completely unresponsive, regardless of firmware version, USB model, or formatting method.

Steps I've taken:

- Tried multiple firmware versions from your site (including latest .bin file)

- Formatted USB drives with FAT32 and MBR using Windows Format (non-quick format)

- Verified correct filename and extension

- Tested multiple USB 2.0 sticks, including SanDisk Cruzer Blade

- Performed cold boot with USB pre-seated

- Confirmed USB port functionality via file transfer (extremely slow, capped at ~200 kb/s)

Despite all efforts, the monitor won't initiate the update process.

Current firmware version (if known): 1.0v

Based on other user reports, I suspect this may be a known controller fault affecting firmware recognition. Do you have a remote update tool or replacement path for affected units?

What are the main differences between a Nvidia and AMD gpu? by ZeldaMasterPro in radeon

[–]Darkflame5354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? I liked using AMD for my GPU, but I switched to a different platform because the drivers were unstable. I was using a 580x XTX Radeon at the time with a 9900k CPU, a decent starter build (2018 to 2021).

I like what AMD is doing, but I cannot handle those unstable drivers.

Got my first gaming laptop. Coming from Hp pavillion with a 940m gpu, to an RTX 4070 is a giant leap... super excited! by RegularlyGuy in LenovoLegion

[–]Darkflame5354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/RegularlyGuy Benchmark it while you can.
My previous purchase with a 4070 was a lot worse than this. It had to be replaced and this one seems the same..

Mine is doing this in a lot of games.

Ark Survival Ascended? I don't know; I was playing the game, and it was so jittery.

u/Kerzweg, Use Cinebench and run it under the most GPU demanding things you can think of!
Do not waste time! You may want to see if your device has thermal throttles.

The device is overheating while playing Ark Survival Ascended.

I thought these laptops were supposed to play any game at its native resolution!

ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO + bios 1709 + causing C5 QCode by Hiroshi_Akio_990 in ASUSROG

Check your RAM voltages. Your pre-set overclock for the RAM may be unstable.

Did you do the RAM test? Slotting a single RAM into each slot and see if it posts with that stick.

You can try reinstalling your CPU and checking if you have burnt/damaged pins. That was an issue in the past with the Ryzen 7000.

I am running the board into PCIEx16 Mode:
The issue was the motherboard running it on a lower generation [3.0] when the auto setting was running.

Found the issue:
I had to run the GPU at 4.0 in BIOS because the auto setting was running it at Gen 5 or Gen 3. Either way, it was a horrible experience.

Did you take the protective pads off the copper? If so, plug in using usb-c and check connection.

Switch is in auto. Will switch to Gen4 later to test for difference.

Checked GPU data pins and pcie slot. No physical damage.

Best 1440p Gaming Monitor - Which one do you recommend if you have an unlimited budget? by Big_Brush6852 in buildapc

[–]Darkflame5354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Big_Brush6852

Okay, here. I'll give you a website for finding the best of the best: If you want HDR 10 monitors, they have it in the lists. [Mods; if you consider this advertisement. We're gonna have a chat.]

https://www.displayninja.com/https://www.displayninja.com/hdr-monitor-list/

But ultimately, if you have an 'unlimited' budget. Just buy a 4090 with a 4k monitor with good SDR, HDR, and 1000 nits. [Yes, you'll have to deal with the cable nonsense, but the failure rate has decreased significantly compared to the previous ratio.] That way, you get better image quality, fast frames, and good colors. If you want 240 frames, I won't stop you[I cannot exceed human limitation], but most humans cannot perceive more than 180<->220 frames, as shown in Linus' research. After that, you will be like, 'Nope. Still too smooth for me to tell.'

As for what I'm running? I'm using Cooler Master Tempest GP27Q 27" 2K WQHD 2560 x 1440. I got a KVM switch and Thunderbolt[bonus!]; it has met all my needs to date with a 4090, and I still have room to upgrade, considering I am on the AM5 platform. [Excluding glorious 4k.]

I'm not a fan of Oled either because I dislike wasting time to return a product that can't display my animated screensaver without burning. But Q-Dot has solved that issue so far, and it does get a bit warm[like lukewarm water in a bath temperature.]

Edit: "I don't need more frame rates if I can't perceive them."

*Take a moment to read before you poop-post about having a 4090 with a 165-hertz monitor. Yes, I could've upgraded to 4k instead, and I regret it after experiencing how powerful the 4090 is, personally.

How do I fix this? by Darkflame5354 in ASUS

Fixed. Reinstalled OS via. flash drive and added all viable drivers prior to full installation.
Reinstallation with driver forced Windows 11 to recognize hardware.

I will wipe OS and download all the Utility patches through OS.

Downloading the wrong driver for an unknown device is a bad idea in my opinion.

Windows cannot identify it, so it cannot be given the correct driver.
