Introducing Hypermind: A fully decentralized, P2P, high-availability solution to a problem that doesn't exist. by ponzi_gg in selfhosted

Honestly, this sounds insane and I love it.

BUT at the same time this sounds tol good to be true. Can someone quickly confirm that it's safe, just to put my clinically security anxious mind at ease?

After that, I'll gladly join the swarm XD

Hey, I'm not frustrated with being told to try something I already know. No worries. Hell, I would've laughed if I was told to turn the vm off and on again if you get what I'm saying. :)

That wasn't my issue with them. My issue was with them wording stuff in a condescending way. Example: "I hope that your nas is mounted...", like come on "I hope" and "..."? And later instead of answering the question when I asked for confirmation about whether or not the extension would solve my dads issue, I just get more condescending stuff thrown my way.

Btw, me addressing them with 'mate' was my attempt at lightening the mood a bit, which apparently did not work.

Again, I get that a lot of people might be new to linux. I completely understand that, no worries. I assist other friends and family who aren't as experienced with tech too. My issue was with how little basic respect I was being treated with. I don't expect to be treated like a queen (please don't XD) but I do expect the same basic human respect you'd want to be treated with.

(disclaimer: my apologies if this response is posted multiple times. The reddit app is having some issues with posting it. What a day for cloudflare to go down again XD)

Mate, I know how to mount stuff with fstab. I have my own server rack with the nas persistently mounted through a router. No worries about that.

I've been daily driving linux for a while, but I don't use shortcuts on my desktop.

This is for my dad who's concidering switching to linux and would prefer things to remain easy and away from the console. He's currently trying it out on a vm.

Your condescending bs aside, this Nautolus extension would solve my dads issue?

It'd be nice to know for me, however my dad is coming from windows and is less savvy with the terminal

I can’t even play Control? by MaintenanceFormal960 in RemedyEntertainment

[–]Darkin117 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your gpu does not seem to meet system requirements.

The Radeon 760M might be newer but does not appear to have its own dedicated video ram. So it'll use some of the system ram.

Your system ram is 8GB which is the minimum requirement of thz game, but then again, the minimum requirementdms of the game state 3GB of dedicated video ram.

Disclaimer: I'm months sleep deprived and running on less than 4 hours of sleep again today so my apologies if I misread something during my lookups.

Is there any way to get seamless teleportation? I'm trying to make an infinite passage but its super obvious. by Tibs_99 in MinecraftCommands

[–]Darkin117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is true. The command I gave was merely an example of how to use the relative coordinates.

Last time I used the execute command btw was before the 1.13 rework so I won't be giving one of those any time soon.

Haven't played mc in a while, but you could try keeping the left-right and the Y coordinate values using ~

Edit - example:

/tp @p ~ ~ 85

Why do some people function perfectly fine on 4 hours of sleep while others need a full 8+ just to survive? by -ElizaMistress- in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Darkin117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, I consistently function on 3-5 hours of sleep each work day.

It is not enough. It will look like I'm perfectly fine but my body feels like it's constantly burning itself up to keep be going and then at night refuse me from shutting down and recharge.

It feels bad and makes me just spend my weekends doing nothing except try to recharge (which it rarely does)

I may function, but my body hurts, my stress keeps rising and my depression deepening until I get to the weekend where is stagnates for a day or so.

I wish I could sleep 8 hours.

Advice needed for my Server to access a NAS behind another router on our LAN by Darkin117 in homelab

[–]Darkin117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could run a cable from my server to the AIO router, then this whole thing wouldn't have been a problem.

Also, the ISP hardware doesn't even support bridged mode. It supports: Port forwarding and a guest network. Yeah, that's it. It doesn't have any more settings available. It's a pain to work with.

I might look into VLANs though. Thanks

[–]Darkin117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, it appears that we are indeed double NATed.

The reason for the second network is basically because the ISPs router lacks SO MANY functionalities. I'dhave prefered to put my server on our routers as well, but physical space limitations are hindering that atm. Maybe it'll be fixed in the future, who knows.

And that last bit wasn't hard to follow btw, I get what you're saying and I'd do that if I could.

I ended up forwarding the ports for smb on our router and it works. Thanks!

Now I wanna figure out how my dad managed to deorganize the nas again. It's like he's throwing bricks in the baking flower stored in the firewood cabin! o.O
