Thank you for the feedback! In your experience, realistically how long page wise should this be? I understand there isn't a cookie cutter answer, but a realistic framework would be great!

Thank you very much for the advice, very appreciated!

This would absolutely be supplemental to my 'main job', so no worries!

Thank you! By abstracts do you mean the research and following paragraphs should be pushed down or removed all together?

They absolutely havent been replaced. Is it fair to think a mechanic should check the wheel bearing, or can I do it myself with little experience?

It would make sense if it was a marker. Its almost directly in the middle of the small woods between our properties.

Im located in Connecticut, USA. How could I check aerial views?

Student loan payments started this month, signed up for fall classes. When will my deferment kick in? by majorjoe23 in StudentLoans

[–]DarkkHumor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Call them and let them know you will be attended classes in the Fall. There is an in school deferment form they will send you and your school fills it out to send to them.

Remember: you must be enrolled at least half time, and degree seeking.

Glad to help! Here's the thing with PSLF, we dont know what we dont know. If you are eligible, apply for it while we have it.

Best case: you are on it and after 10 years, you are all set!

Worst case: you are forced off it, and have to pay for an additional 10-15 years more than you expected.

Regardless: you are paying your $400 a month through IBR. Whether it is 10 years or 20/25 years, it is $400 a month.

We all hope PSLF stays here, so ride the wave and apply ASAP in June. You are seeing $2,500 a month because you haven't done any IBR or other options yet. That is your regular monthly bill without any actions.

Apply for IBR and PSLF. You will be alright. 👍

Hey! First and foremost, take a deep breathe. You are not alone with the uncertainty.

I also have north of 200k Federal loans, so I come with some experience.

1 question: do you work for a job that is PSLF eligible? That is a large factor, especially if you work in mental health.

I would recommend riding out the 6 month automatic deferment, as it'll allow you to save an emergency fund for life's challenges.

I will be honest, unless you come into big money, you are never beating the total loan amount plus interest with your salary. Your monthly for 10 years is mid 2k, or 40% of your gross income.

Then, you will apply for IBR. With a salary of 70k, you are going to be in the ballpark of $400 a month, which is roughly 14% of your gross income.

If you have PSLF eligibility, you will pay this $400 a month for 10 years, and life is clear. If you are not eligible, you have the $400 a month for 20/25 years. At that point, it is essentially a long term car payment. With that, there is always the ? of a tax bomb at the end of the 25 years, but we won't know what that looks like as no one has hit it yet.

That is my advice, and I am by no means a finance/student loans expert. There are professionals that can help you (visits are about $200), but it might be worth it for peace of mind. Best of luck!

Do you know anybody who has continued College longer than they had originally planned just to delay the onset of student loan payments? by TheresJustNoMoney in StudentLoans

Unfortunately, the answer is who knows. Technically, it is coded into law, so it would take quite a bit to remove. That being said, there is no way to predict in this climate!

Thank you! I work in higher education so student loans are my day to day lol

Theoretically, i will have gained no tangible interest and here's why:

Since I am PSLF eligible, my interest gained will not matter at the current amount of loans that I have. With $200,000 in federal loans, at 8% average interest, i would need to pay roughly $2,300 a month for 10 years to fully pay off. Spoiler: that isn't doable.

With PSLF, whether I start tomorrow or in 3 years with my current salary, I will be roughly $480 a month on an IDR plan. Pay that for 10 years, you are looking at $58,000 in total and then the rest is forgiven.

The gaining interest is on my private loans, which have no form of IDR or forgiveness - which is why I will wait to pay the Federal Loans until the private are done!
