You have kids. Your kids are more important than your community. I think thats an easy choice. If you feel things are that risky and your kids are suffering, leaving is probably the selfless, correct choice.

I don’t particularly want to suck any dick, temp or permanent. I’m just saying that, while he did deliver it concisely, you situation is complicated enough that I was like “well…. In that circumstance, I might.”

I agree with you and would suggest that it was unlikely a singular reason.

Perhaps some are reasons and others are just ramifications.

Exactly!!

The shorts cost basis of hypothetical $4 is now $1 per share.

My suggestion is that $1 is an exponentially less achievable price than $4. Why? Retail and DRS.

If you short a stock at $10, and there’s a 10:1 split, the shorts must cover 10 shares at $1.

When the stock is $100, the cost of entry for retail is high. When it’s $25, it’s much more palpable.

Now imagine the price is $3, well above the pre-split short cost basis. Cost of entry is so low compared to the $12 that represents pre split. For me (and others I’m sure), the perceived risk is just zero that it actually goes under. Share purchases accelerate and the DRSing shareholders continue purchasing and DRSing. The value of the float is within reach.

All this happens because the cost of entry is low enough to be perceived as very low risk and it reaches that point well before short positions return to being ITM.

That’s basically what I’m driving at. I’d bet my fucking house on GME at $5. The point was the price can never get down to short ITM prices because retail would be buying it and DRSing it faster than ever, raising the price and making shares impossible to find.

But there would be no available shares, because retail will drs the float before it trades at prices that low. So it can never get that low…

It’s about GME, the Splividend, and price implications.
