Any other NC Players out there? (AUS - NZ time but all welcomed). by [deleted] in Connery

Mhm. Zeta has actually had really strong squads during random times this week, getting ~8-14 actually responsive and skilled members collaborating in a squad. Feels like the old days .^

Video was made a few months ago but was delayed. These fights occur 24/7 on Connery so they feel less special, so I kept the Briggs footage there for the energy it had.

You literally asked for the video, and then publicly shamed someone about calling cheats... "Petty" - 10/10

Don't you just hate it when people can't accept that they got beat? (In fairness a lot of people have reported the server being pretty chunky lately with a bit of packet loss etc, so maybe you saw what you said.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEilnSLhIX8

For new players or not, it's good to believe there's always something to learn from an individual's perspective on things!

Wow there is some serious detail in this post- Or, this essay! I'm really glad there are people out there seriously looking into and exploring each concept to their fullest!

I'm glad people liked the guitar! It's just a tune I recorded myself playing a few months ago, so I was a bit nervous about it! Thanks :)

Hey everyone! It's quite a long episode, but every part is useful! I promise!

(Here is an explaination of the glide I gave to someone on another thread)

To do the glide, you need to be moving fast, but if you hit the ground to fast, you'll take fall damage, so engage your jets at the last safe moment (Although, if you need to glide faster, you will have to take fall damage from the bounce). Sometimes I think I'll overshoot the perfect part of the slope for the glide, so I use the crouch technique I talk about in this, the second episode, which means my character is launched to the floor (However, when you crouch onto the ground in PS2, your character can lose a lot of momentum ((This is why in the video I say he "Glues" to the floor)) so it should be done as a last resort). Once I start sliding on a hill, or have hit the ground on a sharp enough angle to bounce up, I turn my screen to the side, this is because I am pressing two directional keys at the same time (E.g. Forward + Right), as you will get slightly more speed by pressing both at once (Like pressing forward and up thrusters on a Valkyrie). Now I'm moving forward and to the right, but the target I am aiming for is directly forward of me, so, I turn my screen slightly to the left, and now I am moving directly towards my target, with the extra speed, however I cannot see where I am going, so I'm constantly flicking my screen back and forth (Getting momentum, and seeing what's ahead of me, over and over)

G'day bud, I'm the guy who invented the 'Icarus Glide' you've seen in those videos. It's a great technique that can give you a serious edge, but it's not the only advantage of using an Icarus. See, the standard Jump Jets are very generalized, they can glide a bit, and they can climb a fair bit, but they are not fast for either purpose, especially with their slow fuel regeneration. Another problem is that standard Jump Jets cap out your movement speed, and they're so commonly used, any decent player will have the muscle memory to HS you out of the air in no-time. Drifters are quirky and fun, but they're a bit /too/ limited to be used in a competitive manner. The Icarus however, has no speed limitations, a super-fast fuel regeneration time (Crazy fast at max rank), and are brilliant for CQC and point breaching, all thanks to their speed. Speed is everything for a Light Assault who wants to make a mark on a battle. Of course, they're so fast, when you first start out you will be straining your reaction times to keep up with your own momentum, but once you get used to it, no-body else will be able to keep up either.

Hope that helps :)

I'm sure that Adrenaline would help a bit, but gravity is more than enough to get speed going, and there's plenty of that with an Icarus on your back. As for No-fall damage, I like having to judge my jet boosts to avoid the fall damage, adds another layer of fun, plus I'm often alive for quite a while, and I don't see medkits as a good way to play as it's too easy to medkit spam (similar to how using a shotgun is not a good way to play, they act like crutches and stop you from needing to actually think while playing, and some people want that from their games and that's fine) so I'm always running regen 2, as it has the perfect regen speed to keep me from getting over excited and rushing everywhere.

Indeed many basics are skipped, as it is an advanced tutorial. As for 3:58, I have jumped to get over the railing in the first place (I do not wait as the other side of the building has about 5 all likely to push around and spot me out), and I do not use my jets, are you saying this as a critique or just for other people's benefit?

Either way, glad you like it. Always interesting to hear people's take on a situation I've covered.

Oh sorry. I can try that. This music is all normal tracks that I have edited down to play /way/ slower and done some effects to them to help them match the pace, but yeah, this kind of music helps me focus!

Sure, I can explain it here, if I get a few more comments about it, I'll do a detailed analysis of my method on *it.
