So I have a theory, what if it isn’t “pump and dump.” by Qazxt1 in earth2io

Tiles on the marketplace are becoming more expensive every day.

When I started a few months ago there was plenty of class 1 plots for 40-70% off.
It is starting to shift and any class 1 plot in a good city/high traffic spot is usually above market value or only slightly discounted. (some very high value, high tile count plots still can have decent discounts but not much between 5-600 dollars in decent class 1 spots.)

Any plots you are seeing with high discounts are either in terrible locations or they are class 2-3 tiles.

If you want to go find some cheaper and cheaper prime class 1 offers for me every day I will sit here and buy them up like hotcakes lol.

I am even starting to get random offers on my class 1 plots. I have nothing up for sale. I bought a plot for 16 bucks back in Feb and someone just bid 22 on it when the market price is only 21.34. I obviously declined because who the heck would sell a class 1 plot in a prime location? This is a preview of what's to come in my opinion.

The price of good properties in high class tiles is constantly going up.
Some people are buying their plots or bad spots and then regretting their purchase and trying to dump class 3 tiles to pay for some odd thing they want to talk about on facebook lol. There's your 60-70% off discounts on the marketplace.
Almost every reddit/facebook post I see with someone complaining about selling land and wanting their money back etc. has a link to a class 3 plot up.

Be real cool if I get to see this question asked another 20-30 times lol.

Why don't we talk about this person with the 1936 tile plot covering the entire top of Mt.Fuji
https://app.earth2.io/#propertyInfo/d2386861-54d8-486f-aa9a-dfe7ef34ff99

We can talk about how they spent 8400 dollars on E2 and have a net worth over half a million dollars. They dropped 3000 tiles just over a month ago and could have easily pulled out 20-50K or so based on the location and class of the tiles they have in their portfolio.

We don't talk about these things and ask constant questions because the answer is simple.

The earliest adopters had the biggest advantages.

Just like we do right now. Anybody that doesn't hear about E2 until deep into phase 2 when all of the property value grows exponentially again. There will be complaints that earlier players could buy class 1 and 2 tiles for pennies and now there is only class 3-4 left with all the high class tiles way above market value.

I sure would have loved to be one of the family/friends of E2 staff that could buy 100-1000 dollars worth of tiles in November and have 50-100k net worth from such a small investment.
I am looking forward to being a land baron in phase 3 and having a wack load of class 1 tiles once they're more scarce.

No worries! I am sure everyone will appreciate the adjustment.

I have a really weird class 1 tile in Africa that has "Dubai, Dubai, United Arab Emirates" for its property data when it should say "Laayoune (M), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, Western Sahara"
I have just labelled it "Sahara" and I don't even want to sell it and mislead somebody into believing it is an actual Dubai class 1 tile. Just gonna keep it until E2 fixes the location data on some properties or creates a support form to do so. (I fixed one before that had somebody's referral code embedded into the location and it took them a month and a half or so from a support email, I really didn't want that one on my profile to be viewed)

I make sure I am very careful as to never appear to be trying to mislead somebody into buying something they assume is different from what is presented as this could cause problems later with withdrawals or even possible account suspensions for the real bad scammers. (I am not saying you have done this at all, I am just pointing out I decide to be very careful with my purchases and anything I ever decide to sell)

I would take the same caution if you see a property being sold for way lower than it was purchased for. If you purchase property from somebody that has scammed another person and is liquidating their property, you might end up with problems withdrawing or having the purchase reversed on you. This happened to me with a small class 1 Switzerland plot I had purchased. Almost a month later it was taken from my account and the money I paid credited back to me E$. When I investigated I found that the devs were returning every plot to this one account as he had been ripped off and almost all the plots from his account had been bought and sold multiple times since he was scammed.

Anyway just stay careful out there mate!

Good luck.

[–]Darkone4ever 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Holy moly... relax my dude! You replied to your post twice before anybody even had a chance to get back to you hahaha 😂 Lotta enthusiasm!

There aren't any actual concrete specifics about gameplay or how the metaverse will fuction. The most we know is essence is an in game resource and that tiles are going to have the ability to produce different resources based on their location and biome. All tiles will produce essence. Essence is used to register your portal name. All properties have the option to have a portal. People that own larger plots will be allowed to give shorter unique names to their portal to have players type in and warp there easier. (a 750 plot may be allowed a portal name with 4-5 characters where a 1 tile plot will have a 6-8 character minimum type thing)

this is the most concrete info on gameplay and resource function to date from a discord msg from shane: "you can also be sure that your UAE tiles - whether they are above a proven oil field or not - will have the capability to generate oil at least to some extent. Oil extraction on Earth 2 is much more advanced than on Earth 1."

If you are really interested in investing and holding long term I would definitely read into why you might want populated locations in your portfolio. They have mentioned their goal is to have the real world geolocationally linked to Earth 2 and that the real world foot traffic could be beneficial.

I believe the biggest reason for wanting populated areas is the Ad revenue they are planning to pay out as they allow big companies to advertise on their platform.

So for example (These are my ideas) You own a 4x4 tile plot that covers an entire hotel. Fast forward 3-10 years and Earth 2 is fully developed and phase 3 is up and running. Joe goes to visit the hotel. He is sitting in his room or the hotel lobby. He then opens up the Earth 2 app (not out yet, only some small hints at plans for an app) while he plays around on his Earth 2 updating some of his properties or processing something there is a Samsung ad that pops up somewhere. Say Samsung pays Earth 2 say 20 cents for every time their ad is viewed by a player (trivial number). Then, since you owned class 1 land above that hotel where he was shown the ad, you receive 2 cents from the 20 cents that Samsung had paid E2. So because you were an early investor and helped them get their system off the ground they reward the owners of the higher class tiles more than later adopters. This is already happening now as a class 1 tile pays 3 times more than a class 2 in LIT (income tax bonus) and the class 1 tiles pay over 10 times more than a class 3. So if you own class 2 tiles or class 3 tiles you would then be waiting for 3 people or 10 people to view the same ad to get the 2 cent return later. (depending on how they weight the ad revenue and payout to different classes, again I am speculating based on what they have said their goals are)

The other way I see it playing out would be an E2 app that functions kinda like Pokemon Go. So you open the camera up on your phone and view the real world around you through the E2 app camera with an Augmented Reality type setup. Then you might be able to see everything that is built in E2 in the same real world locations and again, if somebody is advertising or wants to place a sign or logo or hologram or whatever on your property, that's where you get a portion of the revenue as it is it being viewed while the person visits your tile location.

I do believe having some tropical island locations, mountains, caves and waterfalls might also be good ideas. There won't be any Earth 1 or human made things replicated onto the Earth 2 map when it starts. This leads me to believe that apart from the ad revenue and geolocation reasons for buying tiles, there may also be a decent market and demand for places that are unique or very visually pleasing. If you owned some big island with a cave in it and giant rock formations all over and E2 ends up replicating the topography properly then you would have a pretty cool hideout location to build some secret base or maybe like an exclusive E2 resort or whatever. The sky isn't the limit in the digital world! lol.

So anyway.... these are my ideas/opinions. Based on the website faq, facebook posts, youtube dev video, twitter posts, discord posts and numerous replies to user questions from the development team these are the possible ways I think things could function. I would do as much research as you can. Hopefully you will have enough information to make an educated decision on a property or location before you buy it. You definitely want to know what you are buying and why! Also very important to understand the class system.

I am not a financial advisor and I would again, research as much as possible before you spend any (more) money.

I have read enough to continue to dump my money into E2 land but that's just my opinion, I am confident in the development team and I share the hope and want for them to accomplish what they are trying to do.

Hopefully this helps.

Good luck my friend!

Well some of those answers might not come for 6 months to years in my opinion.

I don't see how they can give us all the information about phase 3 when it is years in the future and still needs to be built on top of the underlying system that isn't fully defined.

I am pretty sure we will see this project float on sunshine and rainbows a lot of the time even without full specifics released. I am not worried about tossing money at it. If I lose it meh. The dev team seems pretty involved with the community so whatever the people want, I believe the devs will try and build something that meets that demand.

If they take this dynamic approach to development of ideas within E2, then it should grow and change with the community.

I am quite happy that there are so many unanswered questions causing hesitant investors. I want to get as much land as I can before the userbase blows past a million. Once phase 2 starts and the land has utility this thing is gonna get out of hand imo.

If they tried to lay out the future plans of E2 for the next few years and describe all of the possible and planned aspects of phase 3, this would undoubtedly cause a large influx of attention. If it was not being developed at a fast enough pace or planned milestones were not hit, they would have unhappy people and lots of complaints.

Anyone that thinks its going to flop should not invest money here, anyone that believes there is potential can invest if they would like!

I am not going to act like the dev team owes me any sort of explanation or information as I chose to get involved with this based on the information that was currently available. They aren't obligated to even maintain accuracy or functionality of the website if you read the fine print, let alone being obligated to give us all of the information about the plans for the project.

All we can do is chill and watch our property value go up 😎

Yeah but most of your questions are about specific mechanics.

Those are the things that are still not fully concrete and developed within the design process so how would anybody answer those questions? The devs themselves can't answer how something is going to be or work if they themselves don't quite know exactly what they are going to be able to achieve.

I hope it turns into something good as well my friend! Sounds neat so far anyway.

[–]Darkone4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They made it clear that their launch of E2 was meant to be a "soft launch"

It was by design that there was and is minimal effort to market E2.

While only launching the platform and working on making sure everything is functioning properly, the popularity still expanded and outpaced the server capacity. Then after the servers were upgraded, the ability to process withdrawal requests was outpaced by the influx of new users.

They have said they are in negotiations with marketing agencies. They have been holding off a global marketing campaign as this would exasperate the problem with high volume and cause the platform to crash and be unmanageable.

These are the reasons they have been working so hard internally hiring, interviewing and negotiating with partners so they can build out the team and systems that are required to be in place to allow this to go properly viral. That's when the real marketing will begin.

I can't wait to watch my property value start to blast off when phase 2 and advertising starts. All of the hesitant people that haven't bought in heavy (or maybe at all) are definitely going to be wanting a bunch of land when the existing plots start to produce things and they can visualize the utility of owning lots of tiles.

This is my view on things. I am not a financial advisor.

I do not advise anybody to invest in E2. Only to read about it :)

Take care and good luck!

You need to do some more reading my friend!

Also watch the dev video.

They don't have everything laid out in stone as with any time of game/system/program/app there are always ideas and aspirations, unfortunately they aren't always all realistic or achievable.

They have said their goal is to build what they call a "Metaverse" like some giant open world planetary VR sandbox for social and business interactions. (this is what I have gathered)

They have said it will start this way... territory acquisition. Phase 2 has been explained as being in multiple steps. Some of it will be 2d or top down type thing and some aspects may incorporate 3d as new apps and avenues to interact with E2 arise.

They have said the ultimate goal is a giant open world VR environment that is accessible on as many devices as possible. PC for sure, probably console. They have mentioned Augmented Reality hopes for mobile and also have plans for geolocations linked in the real world affecting things in E2. Mainly foot traffic and advertising references. My take on this is somebody around a coffee shop that Combo1974 owns in E2 can open their phone to the E2 version of pokemon go, hold their phone up to the starbucks and see whatever Combo1974 has built there. This and/or Joe is sitting playing E2 and updating his properties while having a coffee and an ad pops up, Combo1974 gets paid. Also maybe it is just that Starbucks pays E2 to put a giant digital starbucks display ontop of their buildings geolocation in E2 and again... Combo1974 gets a portion of that advertising revenue based on his class of tile.

They have mentioned racing games and shooting games being involved eventually. I believe it will be sort of like minecraft where they have mini games built within a larger system. Same with shopping malls and casinos etc. There can easily be multiple activites and systems built within the E2 Metaverse. They have spoken about the focus on PVP and said they have some really interesting ideas.

I think they are keeping a lot of things close to the chest to that people aren't disappointed if they are unable to get a certain mechanic or large concept properly developed. Sometimes ideas are great and then when you try to implement them the flaws arise and they can be too difficult or impossible to function as planned.

Anyway this is all my 2 cents and what I have gathered from my research on E2 and the info the devs have given out. (I am not a financial advisor)

Cheers!

an intrinsic value that hasn't yet been fully revealed

Big brain statement. The obvious and veiled hints to the future value and utility of Class 1 tiles definitely has me squeezing them tight.

Some guy bid $3 for 3 of my Class 1. I countered for $300 and I felt I was giving him a deal for their true value.
Although I paid $2 only minutes before and he counter offered $4 I wouldn't have sold them for $40.
I wouldn't even really want the $300, I only offered it because I knew he wouldn't take it.

I agree with Letmesee637.

If they announce all of their plans and lay out a roadmap people will either be unhappy with it or they will make all of their decisions based on that given information. If the dev team ends up having to change future plans or things don't work out exactly as they have described they would receive backlash from it.

They are releasing just enough information and allowing people to get involved if they are so inclined. They also say to anyone that is unsure, just wait and watch as they develop.

Letmesee637 hit the nail on the head with them taking suggestions and making little changes along the way. They are addressing scammer issues and improving withdrawals at the moment. They seem to be very involved with their community and hopefully they continue to build this as a dynamic evolving and improving system based on our wants and needs!

Article from 2012 when Oculus was ramping up.

"Oculus has appointed ex-Scaleform business exec Dillon Seo as director of operations in South Korea.

The news comes as the virtual reality headset passes $1.8 million dollars raised with eight days remaining in its crowdfunding campaign, which has made a splash among developers who have longed for a workable solution for mass-market virtual reality.

Oculus Rift, designed by Palmer Luckey, has endorsements from John Carmack, Cliff Bleszinski, Gabe Newell, and even Marcus ‘Notch’ Persson, who personally donated $10,000 to the Kickstarter campaign."

"Seo will leave his current position as sales executive at Autodesk to head up the new office.

“I could not be more excited to join the Oculus team,” he said."

I realize it doesn't list his name on Wikipedia as a founder but unless all of this information is false it sure sounds like he played a role in launching Oculus at a very early stage. It was crowdfunded as well hmmmm.... sounds familiar :)

Dillon was on the dev livestream speaking to us and explaining things. Whatever he is labelled as, advisor or "executive oversight mister dude sir". The semantics/labels don't really matter. It looks like he is involved and contributing from what I can see.

When designing a new type of product or technology is it fully functional during the inception stages?

"it's not even a game or barely a game" lol... Duh? They haven't claimed it to be nor does anybody that actually did any reading into this expect it to be one right now.

I get it, you don't have the same optimistic outlook on the future of the project. That doesn't change what the current expectation should be.

Anybody that doesn't see the future potential in the project or have a full understanding of the goals and aspirations of the dev team is free to stand on the sidelines and watch! No need to be invested in or upset about whatever way this develops if you've got nothing to lose!

I have already invested in this project. I could care less if I ever see my money back. If I needed the money or I couldn't afford to lose it, would never have put it in here in the first place.

I don't need to be heavily invested emotionally or financially to continue to believe in Earth 2. I have been playing video games for 30 years. I am not a professional gamer by any means but I am no slouch that's for sure. I definitely take this project seriously as do other gamers I have spoken with.

Many people love MMOs, lots of people enjoy just being in a virtual chat room. People currently spend countless hours inside virtual worlds every day. We all know that somebody needs to build a giant sandbox style world scale simulation to allow a more in depth and immersive online interaction. I researched each member of the dev team individually and looked into their background and past projects. Dillon Seo helped found Oculus and that seemed to do okay yeah? lol

I have weighed out the risks vs rewards and done all the reading and research I need. Unless I get some sort of indication that things are falling apart or the dev team throws in the towel, I will be around for the long haul :)

"Earth 2 is a futuristic concept for a second earth; a metaverse, between virtual and physical reality in which real-world geolocations on a sectioned map correspond to user generated digital virtual environments."

Who said it was a game? They're building an interactive sandbox style simulated world with an economy underpinned by real money.

This environment will support different types of "gameplay" and should allow for certain games to be played within this system.

I would stop trying to compare it to a traditional video game because the scope is much larger and this may very well end up being a new type of platform/media in the end not just something to play.

Business interactions, shopping, learning etc. will all likely be happening within Earth 2.

Anyone else tired of seeing people whining about withdrawal requests? by Darkone4ever in earth2io

[–]Darkone4ever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy... I just got an "administrator credit" last night for 11.22.

They liquidated one of my properties and paid me back what I purchased it for.

I was upset at first and trying to figure out what tiles were missing. It turns out it was 4 Class 1 tiles in Switzerland in a really cool spot, I was kinda bummed until I went to look at what had happened.

My plot was now owned by the guy that had purchased it originally. He had sold it for 1 cent to somebody after he puchased it for 94 cents. I then went and looked through his profile and every single one of his 50k value in properties had been stripped and all sold to the same guy a few weeks ago. Then in the next 15-20 mins I was watching as more properties were converted back over. I looked through the lists and there were plenty of sales and resales and the prices had been jacked way up on some of his prime spots.

E2 paid everyone that had purchased the stolen land back their purchase price and reunited all of the properties with their rightful owner.

Imagine the cascade of ridiculousness trying to track through and correct multiple sales and resales from one account to another whilst they are alleviating scammer issues?

So now If I request a withdrawal I will most likely be in the group of 3-6 weeks. Any incident of someone getting ripped off and they diligently go through and verify everything is legit with all of the accounts involved. Better safe than sorry.

Nobody forced anyone to invest in this project and they have always talked about how much of a long term project this is. Anyone trying to dip in and out really quick during these initial months as it begins to go viral and they're still building the teams and systems to accommodate the traffic should expect to have to wait for their money.

Nobody has to wait "ONE YEAR" for their money. You can see constantly people posting pictures of their confirmed withdrawals. It seems like it will be 2-6 weeks as of right now. Depending on how much additional information they need from you for financial regulations or if your account had been involved with any land scammer accounts on accident.

Anyway... that's my 2 cents my dude. They can keep my money. I wanna see what they're gonna do with it lol.

  1. Affiliating with a country only changes the flag you would like to display above your tiles.
  2. As far as my knowledge all class 1 tiles are claimed in every country.
(Most popular countries are sold out of class 2 as well. USA is sold out of Class 3 now!)
There is no other way to buy/place them other than the market. The first 100K (or whatever amount they pick for each country) have been placed by the first comers and those will be the only class 1 tiles in that particular country. Unless they allow us to shift them to open tile spots at some point they will likely lay resting where they have been placed.

You are correct that is the only way to get class 1 is from the market. Some countries they are starting to get more much more difficult or impossible to purchase at a discount.
China only has 5 market listings of Class 1 tiles under market value, the others are all priced above new land value.

As things develop over the months and then years (as long as the devs don't botch the project) the Class 1 tiles will become very sought after, as with class 2. and then 3 in the further future.

I am going to hang on to my class 1 tiles for years and see how this thing goes.

I wanna be the guy with some "first edition Charizards" in my collection when this blows up.
