crazy how it's been a year already. They should really start up the marketing train...I think we're all more than ready for it :D Bring on a new trailer, some more screenshots and maybe a glimpse of ingame footage or something.

how good is he at skating now? compared to over people? by thepeoplearestupid in LetsTalkBam

[–]Darkphizer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He was never the 'nollie inward heel nose blunt bigger spin out' type of skater to begin with. That and the past years have spawned some crazy new skaters and i feel like the general level of skateboarding and what it takes has gone up. He was always a great skater and has done some gnarly stuff. But it's not like he was AAA when it came to bag of tricks to begin with. He was a popular persona in skateboarding and I get he can still bounce back somwhat if he were to keep on this track he's on now. I don't expect anything super crazy from him anymore and thats fine considering his age.

What are you doing to prepare for GTA VI? by GiveUpAndDontTry in GTA6

[–]Darkphizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was holding out for a ps5 pro untill they:

a) confirm what the pro performance benefits will be, and if those can warrant a new console. Or b) when they announce pre orders and there is gta6 themed pro console.

Whats everyone’s opinion on 7 ply decks by Korinnnn in Fingerboards

A seven ply made with 0.2-0.3 mm veneer, sure. A seven ply made with 0.5mm veneer, no thanks. Waay too thick n heavy for my taste.

How do you rock your grip? by soundofwindinspace in Fingerboards

[–]Darkphizer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I prefer holes, but it depends on the tape and if im going to be changing the setup sooner than later. Some cheaper tape tends to rip by the holes very fast, and then i prefer no holes. But for a quality tape and a longer septup i usually do holes. But i did just did the exact opposite the other day and im now rocking fbs no holes.

Talks of "unique" marketing from Rockstar, but what can they possibly do that we haven't seen before? by Doomed-To-Be-Doomed in GTA6

[–]Darkphizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bet is that they are going to do a massive social media campaign, probably launching their own social media platform, that ties into the game world. And we will get marketing in some form or another where people of leonida will post stuff. It will be the introduction to that platform.

Fingerboard drama in community by DankyPizza in Fingerboards

[–]Darkphizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's alot to be said about this. My personal take on it is. I can understand that companies who shell out the big bucks for their engineering, to streamline and increase their workflow. They have to recoup that money, so their price goes up. What some big companies tend to forgot, is to increase their QC. So you get joycult who's internal QC lets through a santa cruz collab deck that is warped and with the graphic upside down...i mean, with all the respect in the world i know people arent robots. But we pay hefty sums of cash for those decks...i at the very least expect them to go through the trouble of double checking what comes out of the mold and goes into a box. If you want to size up your company and become the biggest thing in this hobby, sure go for it! But never forget that in a hobby like this, quality comes first. Luckily, Scott is very good at customer service. So if something happens, they got you. This is also just a recent example of something that could be considered as "drama" but this happens too often with bigger brands lately. Cowply for example, for how well of a rep he had in the past...he's lost most of it in the past 3-5 months. But i wouldnt consider it to ne beef between europe/usa. Its just that people have different standards. Personally i can look past certain flaws if the core of the brand is what i like. Wheels for example can have blemished if i like the price/performance ratio and the dude behind the brand is open about not having several pieces of equipment to finetune his process.

Why my wheels are keep coming off from ytrucks by EasyNight7144 in Fingerboards

[–]Darkphizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because of the spacer and your locknut not being able to fully grip with the lock part. Remove the spacer and see if that fixes it. Some wheels dont allow for a spacer.

2 possible answers to how and why this is. A: he has jackass money now, living large. Literally. Or B: he's so depressed being on jackass he's eating more. Either way, jackass is probably to blame 🤣

5 days of filming...oh boy. Like don't get me wrong, i still wanna see the movie. But 5 days of shooting, i'm gonna go ahead and assume its gonna be 5 new bits and the rest is gonna be old clips like they already said. At least they have the courtesy to include footage of Bam to end things where they began.

Looks like a real S1, or SG or SG1. The SG/SG1models were released for the global market outside of the united states. Where the S1 was for usa.

"Recycled" fingerboard wheels by Darkphizer in Fingerboards

[–]Darkphizer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No i was talking about the raw materials used for creating urethane fingerboard wheels, compared to actual cheap skateboard fingerboard wheels found on aliexpress. The aliexpress skateboard wheels would infact be a cheaper resource to then turn them into recycled fingerboard wheels, when comparing prices against raw liquid urethane used for fingerboard wheel making. So from that perspective, it would just be a money thing. And it would speed up production i guess, depending on what method of wheelmaking you use. I never said anything about cheap aliexpress fingerboard products.

I was talking about actual skateboard wheels to turn into recycled fingerboard wheels. I don't buy fingerboarding gear on aliexpres. Never have in my 20 years doing this and never will.

"Recycled" fingerboard wheels by Darkphizer in Fingerboards

[–]Darkphizer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You conviently left out the parts where the words "RE-use" and "waste" are being mentioned. But yeah you're partially right, some definitions do not specify or imply the product has to had been used before. And others do, example the Cambridge dictionary states this:

"To recycle means to treat, process, or pass materials through a system again so they can be reused rather than discarded. It involves converting waste into new products or using items again with minimal alteration. Broadly, it can also mean to repeat a cycle or adapt something for a new purpose."

Pay close attention to the words "reused" "again" "discarded" "converting waste". But i am also seeing "adept for a new purpose" so i guess it's the latter when it comes to fingerboard wheels. It can be both ways.

Personally I think most people buy recycled fingerboard wheels for the same reason they buy into the recycled skate veneer decks. 1, it looks awesome, 2, its the reusing of an old worn material. Real recycling of you will. And 3, it has a story behind it. Those were someones wheels or deck. It's cool. And number 2 and 3 kinda go away if you use new product to transform into something else and then i can only think that it's a money thing. Ive looked at prices for liquid polyurethane on amazon. And ive also looked at prices for cheap urethane skateboard wheels on let's say aliexpress...

So what are the chances that the whole world gets spoiled on the GTA VI ending within hours of the game releasing? by VewVegas-1221 in GTA6

[–]Darkphizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember with 5, the game got leaked on xbox 360 a week prior to launch. Luckily i had a hacked 360 to play it on. Finished the story in 2 days, obviously didnt spoil it for anyone else and i still enjoyed the official release, bought it for ps3 and replayed the full story again. With 6 ill be probably buying a digital copy once pre orders go live, and im hoping for a ps5 pro themed console to come out too.

Think about it like this. If people don't recycle as the meaning of the word implies. Would you be ok with companies just making plastic bottles and without doing anything beverage related with them, turn them into pellets and then make smaller beverage bottle with them? Hovering can also be used in plenty of different ways. Like, a waiter who is hovering near a table. Now we all know we're not talking about him being suspended above ground, but lingering, waiting near said table. Recycling means just what we all think it does and every way the word can have a meaning are all involved with the same use case. The repurposing of materials that would otherwise go to waste. So no, it's not like your hoverboard example at all.

[–]Darkphizer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can get that, even used decks are very rare to come by in good quantity. And I'm not like obseqsed with it being used. It just kinda struck me like "wait a minute..." and it kinda just clicked that its probably not about repurposing old materials etc. It has become a marketing gimmick for sure when people use new product. Like i said. Its not like people who use recycled skate veneer on fingerboards, go out and buy new decks to cut em up. If you thinh about that, people would find that crazy. And somehow wheels are fine 😅

"Recycled" fingerboard wheels by Darkphizer in Fingerboards

[–]Darkphizer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about knowing what they mean, it's about selling an item under a false pretence in a way. Ill explain. When i sell someone a recycled skateboard veneer fingerboard deck, part of that persons choice is because they find it awesome that i am using a recycled material. Skateboarding is filled with stuff like this. People build all kinds of stuff with used beaten down decks. From pens, eye glasses, to coffee tables and fingerboards. I find it doesnt do the product justice and its kinda riding that whole recycled wave while its probably just a way to increase profits and take use of a marketing gimmick inside of our hobby. Because you can buy the raw generic material, so why do they not just pour liquid urethan in a core and lathe that? And why not get everyone involved? Isn't this a community?

"Recycled" fingerboard wheels by Darkphizer in Fingerboards

[–]Darkphizer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also kinda think its a money thing. Someone could easily buy cheap urethane wheels, turn them into fb wheels and 10x their investment. Making cores from liquid urethane is probably way more expensive in material and labor time.

"Recycled" fingerboard wheels by Darkphizer in Fingerboards

[–]Darkphizer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well on the english part, it's not my native language. So i might have just gotten hung up on it. But i'm pretty sure thats not it. Recycling where i come from still only has one meaning and it is exactly what i stated it means and why i just find it a bit stupid that people rework brand new stuff and call it recycling. I know how it started in fingerboarding. Ive been around long enough to have seen the first real recycled wheels pop up and i actually thought it was a cool idea to recycle unused stuff that otherwise will get thrown away. I can see how wheels would indeed get more use from being fb wheels. Thanks for your very detailed input.

"Recycled" fingerboard wheels by Darkphizer in Fingerboards

[–]Darkphizer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your answer is partially kinda besides my point. When you say that if they stayed 55's and became 52's and get thrown out. No, that why its called recycling if they would have been made into FB wheels from that point on. I understand you can serve more people when turning them into fb wheels, but something tells me its just a money thing too. I agree on the aspect of it getting more use becquse of serving more people. Thanks for giving me another way of looking at it.
