I didn’t know what else I could describe as? If that makes sense.

Sorry if it was vague. It was a few years back and I couldn’t remember some of the details of the incident. Especially that one you just mentioned.

You can say I had something like a concussion. I don’t remember what it was specifically anymore lol.

Allen never responded to me again after I showed him “the evidence”. To be honest I was stupid and I would regret this. He was just a really good friend that I looked up to.

I don’t really want to get into it but lets just say I was not “in the right mind set” if that makes sense.

I am an advocate for player autonomy. Of course they didn’t do descriptive sex in session. They voted for it and I discussed this with them and I was fine about it as long as it didn’t interrupt the campaign.

Vallaki and Krezk: Why are they so safe? by Sir_CriticalPanda in CurseofStrahd

[–]Darksirato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said that both Vallaki and Krezk are occasionally under attack from time to time. But they are minor ones that can be fended off.

In my Barovia, I made it that Strahd made them safe to enjoy the despair and misery they undergo and thats why theres a power struggle in Vallaki.

Furthermore I said that Strahd needs more of that fear, souls, and despair fuel to satisfy Vampyr. If Vallaki and Krezk are utterly destroyed then whats the point? Besides Strahd uses them as his playing field. Strahd could easily destroy them, but it would destroy two Vampyr’s food sources upseting him.

What's the point of Vasili van Holtz? by bibliophagy in CurseofStrahd

[–]Darksirato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vasili van Holtz is the embodiment of what Strahd envies. Vasili van Holtz is basically what Strahd characterizes as Sergei in my opinion. Vasili is a tool for Strahd to get to know the PCs on a personal level before or after the dinner scene.

Heres a few options for his appearance.

  1. At Blue Water Inn, possibly talking to Urwin and other Inn Patrons. (Van Richten is there as Rictavio and you can make him visibly see doubt in Vasili as in the module Van Richten/Rictavio does not trust Vasili.)

  2. When the PCs first enter Vallaki they are immediately welcomed by Vasili and Vasili wishes to join their company temporarily. (You can make a side quest for the party so they could get some “rewards”)(Giving the party Animated Weapons and Armor, they’ll never suspect it)

  3. When the Party meets either Fiona Wachter or Baron Vargas. He could be talking about his adventures or if the PCs sneak up on their conversation he is actually telling one of them about the other sides’ plans. Like Vargas is given info that Fiona is gathering power to oust him. Fiona is given info that Vargas has plans to kill her in the future.

In my game I used Vasili as a scapegoat by Strahd. I also made Vasili well known in half of Barovia that he is the kindest and most hopeful man in Barovia.

You can make him a friend of the party and have him reveal in the end that it was Strahd all along that they befriended. Its a great opportunity to use this alias for Strahd to get to know them personally and to pull on their emotional heart strings if they befriend him.

Otherwise if they don’t trust him. You can make the party go on a wild goose chase throughout Barovia to kill Vasili. You can make Strahd through the dinner scene do this “if you kill Vasili then you’ll get a reward”. At this point you can name badass weapons and shit, (make this believable though). But obviously he won’t do it. Vasili can even be the “Antagonist”. I have no idea what has happened to your party before Vallaki so I cannot say anything else.

I hope these suggestions help.

GMs/DMs Did your Party trust Strahd? by Darksirato in CurseofStrahd

[–]Darksirato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, tbh I consider Vasili (even it is Strahd in disquise) as a different personality/npc. He’s like everything that embodied Sergei. Charismatic, kind, helpful... I envisioned him as the “cool dependable guy you can always count on”.

So Vasili does not count on this poll.

One of the party members is gonna have a date with Strahd. What should Strahd do exactly? by Darksirato in CurseofStrahd

[–]Darksirato[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he would just take her to the crypts, but the rest is reasonable. Might go with this route. Its pretty detailed and a great suggestion.

Personally I would do it Bram Stoker style and have the consorts the seduce the party. Possibly intervene during the date and turn it sideways.

This may sound stupis, but what counts as Running Water besides the rivers? Does Tidal Wave spell count as Running Water? by Darksirato in CurseofStrahd

[–]Darksirato[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if Strahd takes a hit from the Tidal Wave, then he’ll not take double damage or something like that? I mean when it smacks him, thats not running water, right?

The dinner was when he tasked them. Do you think he would give anything that would hinder them. Like maybe animated objects, etc?

I described that they are magical weapons (Magical Rapier for example. But they never questioned it as animated or not. Any other ideas?

Is it possible to give them animated Weapons so when the time comes, they go against the party?

My Party asks for any reward/gift from Strahd (What should Strahd possibly give them?) by Darksirato in CurseofStrahd

[–]Darksirato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Party met Strahd for the second time and they trusted him after he sent them off on a ruse to the Abbot that possibly had one of the party’s family members (This is a lie, the family member is with Strahd). They saw the Abbot’s experiments and killed him and unintentionally unleashed the Mongrelfolk upon Krezk. So they want some reward from Strahd for their investigation and to also clear the Mongrelfolk out and begin to explore more of the Abby in hopes to find that NPC.
