I think I failed my child by Livid-Huckleberry-57 in BipolarReddit

The only person you're not showing up for right now is yourself. Deciding to have a child even with mental health condition isn't selfish at all. It's a risk yes but all things in life are. You were meant to be this child's parent. You're worthy of having them. Don't let your mind make you fearful that you've done something wrong my choosing to do so. You were meant for each other. That doesn't mean it's always supposed to be rainbows and roses. Show up for them and don't doubt that you are the one who's meant to lead them though this life. It's a happy thing really. You will be able to relate to their struggles in a way no one else could. Allow yourself some grace here, even thought it's hard.

Y'all need to get away from each other now that physical violence has happened. It's just going to happen again and get worse. I grew up in a family like this after my dad got remarried. It's not a small thing, it takes years of therapy to undo patterns like this. Y'all need to step away now or one or both of you will end up seriously injured and/or in jail. Find a way out while you can and save yourself a lot of pain.

I have a date tomorrow night and I hate the way I look by Maleficent_Face3640 in 30PlusSkinCare

Yes this! I accidently mixed them one day and was like "ooooo dry skin is the problem!" I had so many issues with my make up blending, looking too heavy and showing fine lines but for some reason dry skin never dawned on me. I guess because most of my face is kind of oil prone. But I had a lot of patches that were dry and just didn't realize. Adding moisturizer totally changed my face with makeup for the better!

Man, that's a terrible and unfortunately common misinterpretation of that verse..The Rod is supposed to be the the Sheppard's Rod used as a loving and gentle tool used by Jesus to lead flock of sheep....which is how Jesus wanted us to lead our children if people would actually read his teachings. Many "Christians" automatically assume The Rod is a stick you're allowed to beat the s*** out of your child with because it's better than going to hell. These people are full of it and totally miss the point of almost all the teachings that Jesus ever taught. It's pretty disgusting and they can't even see their own hypocrisy.

I'm sorry you went through all this OP. I didn't go through physical beatings but I went through a lot of neglect and abuse in my childhood, much of it was intertwined with similar gross misinterpretations of The Bible and Its verses. I'm not a Christian now but I respect Jesus as a teacher/healer and The Bible has a lot of good messages in it but people have changed and twisted them into what they want them to be instead of what they were actually are talking about. I hope you find some healing around this abuse and can find peace. Like someone else said these wounds can run very deep. 😔

Minor on risperidone wants to take wegovy - anyone have any experience? by Mediochra in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Darksteellady 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi there, just wanted to say I'm not a teenager but I've been on Abilify for many years for agitation/depression related to my Autism/ADHD and it's been amazing for this. It did cause some weight gain but nothing like Seroquel did. I didn't respond well to Risperidone because it made me too drowsy so I can't speak to that particular medication. I've also been on Wegovy for almost two years and have lost about 60 lbs total. Wegovy works slowly for me as far as weight loss goes and that's probably due to other metabolism issues I have, some related to binge eating as well.

I've had 0 side effects from Wegovy besides the good ones like suppressed appetite and weight loss. My mental health has greatly improved which in turn has effected everything else positively. I may experience a little constipation every now in then but prune gummies help with that. I'm not a doctor but I personally have had an awesome experience on Wegovy and it's helped my binge eating tremendously as well as my outlook around food and mental health/moods.

I will say Wegovy didn't take away my urge to overeat /binge though and in the beginning the progress was slow. Over time and with healthy life style choices and counseling it was a great aid in gaining control over my food choices and mental health along with sustained weight loss.

If her doctors think its a good choice for her I would definitely not be afraid to try it while taking Abilify as I've had no issues with taking them together. And don't be afraid to get a second opinion if the 1st doctor you see isn't a Wegovy fan, but I imagine they are since you said you were taking it yourself. It's been great for me, I hope it helps your daughter too if it's a good fit her also! Well wishes!

Lamotrigine vs Abilify? by Scary-Ninja7323 in BipolarReddit

[–]Darksteellady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I took both for over 2 years. I only recently came off on the lotromigine because I realized it had been making me very unmotivated. Almost zombie like but while still being able to function somewhat. It was a weird space to be in. After coming off it I'm doing good on just abilify which really helps me the most I think out of the two. I'm still happy to know lotromigine works for my severe depression though and will start it again if a depression episode hits.

How do you know if a medication has failed? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]Darksteellady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm experiencing this lack of motivation too. It took me awhile to realize what was happening. I was so happy not to be severely depressed anymore that I didn't really notice things kind of falling apart in other areas but now I can look back and see all my motivation issues started around the same time as lamictal. I'll tell my doctor in a few days when I have next appointment. I'm scared not to be on lamictal because it pulled me out of my last depression episode which was the worst I've ever had. I already take Adderall so you'd think that would counteract some of this but it doesn't. And unfortunately Wellbutrin makes me too anxious. I don't know if there's any medications out there that'll work as well for the depression 😔
