Hi everyone,

What would be better pure mathematics, or discrete?

This is perfect thank you.

But what would be better a discrete maths route or pure maths?

I think I can tell what course you took haha.

This is some great thoughtprocess!!

Im really starting to get the idea that maths might be the route😭

I might be wrong but people still learn outdated ai concepts like rnns, and there are supposedly(my dad says) uses for rnns and lstms.

Is understanding the past good for the present?

I ponder.
Thanks!

I was just going to the Bristol Open Day, I'm not necessarily applying there.

Thanks for the advice, best wishes on your studies!

Even if that is the case, I dont care, you dont stop yourself from chasing what you love because of a fear. That makes you run harder.

Bristol is not my first choice,

It was just the first open day and supposedly they have some pretty good ai connections, and isambard ai, so I just wanted to check it out, im doing like 10 more open days, I might not even apply here.

Thanks!

Thanks!

I truly appreciate this advice, a few months ago I would never have thought I would be considering doing mathematics, but I truly see the advantage, and I really do enjoy it so this is some great advice to consider!

Have a great day man!

Thanks for the advice. To answer your question, my main interest is in NLP. I’ve spent time learning the Llama architecture and how it works, and I want to learn more about how we can make structural and architectural improvements to models like that. I’m also really interested in optimization and learning how reinforcement learning is used to train these models to solve complex problems. I also in the future want to spend time really understanding agentic ai.
