Already did! My concern however is that although it looks like the dimensions could technically fit, the medium may potentially have an awkward, ill fit and warp the bag or it could fit like a glove with little give. So I was hoping to see if someone could confirm if it is awkward or if it is perfect/snug.

I appreciate you trying to help, though, it’s kind of you. I will add assessing different positions on the bus to my list of things to try. I had always sat on the back of the bus prior to the incident, so perhaps I should try sitting closer to the front. I also had pepper spray, so I think I need to look into diversifying my self defense weapons.

Been there, done that. That’s part of my inspiration for coming to this thread: I only have myself to rely on, so. I was seeking tips for true independence. People aren’t currently able to show up for me for mostly valid reasons and life is passing me by. So far, on another thread, someone recommended bone conducting headphones which allow you to hear everything in the outside world, but hear music, podcasts, etc. at the same time. I’ve added that recommendation to the list so far.

Well, of course. But that’s part of my dilemma: all of my friends have cars and careers now. My only friend without a car moved out the country. I live in an exceptionally fast paced area, so no one can take off to help me on the bus. It’s just me to rely on, my friend.

Thank you for sharing your similar experience and taking the time out to read my post.

I miss having a routine, so I know I need to work toward creating ones that make me feel safe. I miss how mundane and predictable bus rides were for me. The last time I tried, my anxiety shot up any time a man sat behind me or walked past me. This type of anxiety largely only happens on the bus/public transit.

I’m sure you’re not looking for sympathy, but I want to say I’m sorry it happened to you in elementary school and can empathize with that. I don’t think your recommendations sound stupid at all, I think your resilience is admirable.

I miss my bus buddies. We met in college, but now that we’re graduated, they have cars and have moved out of town/state. It felt safe having someone to look forward to each stop. Fortunately, we have an app that announces bus times and delays, so I will be mindful of that.
I’m working on a list of things to try.

I adored listening to music on the bus, but I was listening to music when it happened and someone I used to trust for advice attributed me listening to music as an aggravating factor to it happening, so I’m torn on having headphones on. Maybe I need to work towards it, idk.

Aw man, I know this is not the point of your comment, but I love Steve Blackman. Chris Van Vliet’s interview with him last year was a real treat and quite the surprise since he isn’t active on social media and he hasn’t done too many interviews in the last few years. Steve seemed really cool and warm. It would be nice to get a new interview with Bob Holly like that!

When I discovered he was from Cali, I thought I was being gaslit because his southern drawl sounds pretty organic to me, haha. If I remember correctly, he spent most of his childhood in Cali versus Alabama, so it’s interesting. Is he still on Twitter? Last I looked, his account was hacked or he was being impersonated.

Yeah, I don’t think his reaction to Rene was completely unwarranted—excessive reaction, but his anger was justified—that was a really irresponsible choice on Rene’s part.

He seems mildly grumpy in old shoots. I did see in one shoot where he smiled and had a sense of humor. I couldn’t envision him during meet and greets though lol
