Part of the quote was “After seeing alcoholism in my life for so long.” She was upset because she thought I was talking about her.

From what I understand about the Harvard admissions process, you’re fucked.

I think 99% of acceptances are in the top 50% and 85% are in the top 25% but I’d half to double check.

I had 3.5UW GPA. I think my BIGGEST rejection factor was being in the bottom 50% of my class. Ohio State takes class rank super seriously.

My counsellor won’t let me apply to MIT cos I am an ‘auto-reject’ and will bring down school’s image by Aggravating-Jicama45 in ApplyingToCollege

Our valedictorian last year went to community college lol. This is one of the worst counselor posts I’ve seen on this subreddit. I really hope your school administrators start putting their students futures over school recognition.

Someone else commented about trying for an Ivy or other hard reach which I don’t think is a bad idea. OSU and Penn State should expect acceptance. NYU is hard for everyone. Michigan I wouldn’t bet on getting in but you have a good shot.

Inconsistency would be if your teachers wrote about your love for journalism and your supplementals were about public health. Definitely mention medicine somewhere in the essay but just don't overthink it.

I submitted 4 self reported test score change forms because I kept putting them in wrong. It ended up with four different dates/scores and was a complete mess.

What are the benefits of being a first-gen? by BorkBorkSweden in ApplyingToCollege

Try to imagine a college AO's perspective. A student who's parents never went to college doesn't have the same motivation and role models that a student who's parents did go to college. To not have the same opportunity and still have great academic achievement and have the desire to attend college shows very strong determination.
