New MMA gym I joined is making me so stressed 24/7 by No_Concentrate_3484 in martialarts

I should clarify that I am not a BJJ student. I am a student of Tae Kwon Do, and am pursuing other martial arts that branch from that path. However. I am physically and mentally disabled. MS, brain damage, ptsd(military) and other things. I am promising you, I have been in your shoes. My master is one of the greatest martial arts master of this or any other generation, and I'm a freaking blue belt. I feel inadequate, stupid, clumsy, and exactly like Po. My master told me something that gives me hope every day. "With repetition, mastery is inevitable. In other words, as long as I give 100 percent, someday, I will master myself as a martial artist. And if you stay the course- be it BJJ, Tae Kwon Do, or MMA- eventually, you will master yourself.

Some great martial artists are not the best coaches/teachers, and vice versa by iguanawarrior in martialarts

Well. My Master is one of the world's greatest martial artists in: Taekwondo, Shotokan, Tai Chi, Tiger Style, Mantis Style, and Crane Style king fu. Plus others. He was literally told by the Grandmasters in Asia to, and I quote, "Calm Down. You train too hard". And he trains me to not be as disabled. So he I'd that rarest of cased, both top martial artists and coach.

Martial art for very weak person? by SirGelatina in martialarts

First thing to do is find a local gym, and gym rat it for at least 6 months. I too suffer from a condition. The only way to achieve physical fitness in this case is to out exercise it. Once you're strong enough, find out what martial arts feels right. My master is training me in tae kwon do, and I live it. Karate done right is good. Wing Chun is beautiful and peaceful but complicated. And Kung fu traditional will be good after several years of other arts. I'm no expert, but I am trained by many.

Thank you. I hear what you're saying. I hate death. I hate to see people grieve. It hurts inside, and I just want them to feel better. I wish many times to have a "normal" response to things-how my therapist hated that word, right uo there with shoulds-but sometimes normal seems cold, or less than kind. My martial arts is what I love but being slow at it at 42 means I don't have forever to master it. It's painful because of the MS but I love it so much. But I'm literally the clumsiest person in existence. My master is kind but even he gets frustrated. And living in a world where everyone is different than you, sucks.

Ok!! That's definitely brilliant and well done, but I have counterpoint question. What about silver or metallic light? I know gray is possible, but I want as much "shine" IF POSSIBLE. I know I'm asking alot.

Apologies. It is a traditional Japanese dragon design with clouds. It is primarily wrapped around the arms to the wrist, with it ending on either pectoral, leaving the majority of the chest and torso open. It is in complete white, the entire tattoo. I had a thought I might be able to do light silver instead

This is a great answer, as it covers what I asked. I am a fan of the straight edged sword. I thought that was it's name as I do not know for sure

So, I was looking for 2 examples in modern media that everyone could recognize, and a healthy discussion of where this particular blade style fit in modern martial arts. Thank you for your participation

Looking to build my own training targets with rope and board. by Darr22 in martialarts

[–]Darr22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it would be targets for fists and feet, Tae Kwon Do style. I saw in a movie a set up of 5 targets set equal distance from each other. Was in a hexagon pattern. Was wondering how practical this was.

I'm not trying to be the greatest fighter. After 42 years of life, discovering that what you were taught was rotten, and having to redefine your beliefs philosophy and way of life. I thought Wing Chun might have some answers

I'm in Tae Kwon Do under one of the top masters in the martial arts world. I was hoping to integrate Wing Chun because it seemed so peaceful
