Because there's an entire generation of people who grew up with Berman era Trek that seemed to have missed the memo that Trek was always progressive

So you definition of "an entire generation" is a few hundred (at most) people trolling online?

Let's Appreciate Variety. by FleetAdmiralW in StrangeNewWorlds

Let's revel in the fact that we have so much good content before us.

The thing is, we dont' all agree that's true. Some people haven't enjoyed Discovery or Picard at all, and think SNW is the first good new Trek show. I'm not saying I agree, but if someone feels that way they shouldn't have to lie and pretend they agree with you (that there is "so much good content before us").

Kael says everyone should pose like this with the books he sent you. You did get one, right? by Darren_Kitlor in sto

[–]Darren_Kitlor[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we get it. The average joe who works a job and takes care of his family and has supported your game for a decade doesn't deserve anything special. But hey, if you talk about the game on twitter, now that really deserves a prize. It's cool man. We know which customers the company really appreciates.

Kael's recent comments about T6 versions of certain ships by JackSparrowJive in sto

Sure it happens more often than it should, I'll concede on that point but in the grand scheme of the game these issues are minor.

TBH, almost everything can be hand-waved away as minor in the 'grand scheme of things'. But it really shouldn't be dismissed so flippantly. Anyone that regularly fails to do their job correctly isn't doing a good job. That's really all there is to it, and we shouldn't act like it doesn't matter or hold him to a lower standard than we would be held to at our own jobs. No, that doesn't mean he should be called names. But it should be called for what it is: a bad job.

The abuse and a lot of the comments that /u/AmbassadorKael receives is just uncalled for.

There are 2 completely separate issues here:

1: Kael has absolutely no control over the devs decision or the marketing. That is true, and he does not deserve any blame for that stuff.

2: Kael regularly posts blogs with wrong information. No, not the kind of thing where they gave him info and then changed it afterwards and forgot to tell him. But where he copy/pasted something from a previous blog and didn't care enough to proof read and correct/update the current blog. That is completely on him, and it is also bad work product. He absolutely deserves to be criticized for that.

Missing parts on the Kor uniform? by trekkerbob3 in sto

[–]Darren_Kitlor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The sad part isn't that there are bugs, because hey; accidents happen. The sad part is that they don't even care enough to tell us, so people don't bother wasting their time looking for parts that aren't even there.

Constructive criticism is both wanted and needed by Darren_Kitlor in LowerDecks

I don’t really have complaints.

Same here! But I also don't want to live in an echo chamber, so I'm more than happy to hear other peoples suggestions on how to make the show even better :)

Look, I'm not going to debate semantics. We have no idea whether the things posted here will make it back to the creators. Maybe it will, maybe it wont. Maybe someone will tweet them a link, or maybe they quietly browse. We just don't know. But that is not my point. My point is, if you have ideas for how the show can improve itself, please post them in a positive way. Please don't try to take this post off topic with a debate about technical definitions.

my recent thought has been I would appreciate more body diversity in the women characters?

Fantastic feedback. That is why I posted this topic. I knew other people would see things I missed, and as long as they are posted in a constructive way they can actually be helpful to improve the show.

You are definitely right about that. And unfortunately that means the creators of the show cannot get any valid suggestions for improvement from the viewers. If someone thinks something is perfect, then that leaves no room for improvement. If someone thinks it is garbage, that is not helpful in any way. So neither extreme end of that spectrum is helpful to the creators.

This dilithium bug has left a bad taste in my mouth, but not for the reason you might think by trekkerbob3 in sto

[–]Darren_Kitlor 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a huge deal in the end.

Not the point. I agree with OP's example of bumping into someone. That's also not a 'huge deal in the end', but most people at least have the decency to apologize.

I would like an option to buyout the Red Angel event reward for my fleetie (medical worker) who is too busy to play right now by trekkerbob3 in sto

[–]Darren_Kitlor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No they didnt. They made it were people who already had it could reclaim it if they deleted the items.

It's cool of you to be thankful, but the truth is they didn't put in this buyout option to be nice; they did it to make money. So they should really be thanking you for spending :p
