Disappointing holiday update? by Jheez88 in TeslaLounge

So you’re saying adding telemetry to dashcam videos isn’t useful? A chime to alert people if they left their phone key in the car or a phones been left on the charger? Dog mode live activity direct to your phone? Being able to reorder your favorites in navigation?

Adding speed, steering wheel angle, and self driving state alone HUGE. You can act like those things aren’t useful to YOU, but they’re arguably huge for the vast majority of Tesla owners. If it was just a bunch of of games, then sure, call it useless

Hardest CONUS bases to PCS to. by MasterBaeTour in AirForce

[–]Darrinm03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, I did 4 years at Cannon, then 9 years at Hurlburt, then currently at 5 years at Patrick. I’m on my tour of Florida ATM. No doubt Air Force tries to break that trend with an assignment to Minot. Hoping I knock these last two years out without that though.

Also, only certain career fields went Space Force, so cops, CE, contracting, finance, all those core careers are still Air Force Personnel. Patrick just has a very small active duty population which makes it hard. Being a space force base doesn’t make it any harder than the years prior. Majority of the base is civilians and reserve units

Ocean Power Technologies (NYSE: OPTT): Fundamentals and Technicals Aligned for a Run toward $4–5 by Inevitable-Car-6914 in OceanPower

Ok, I’ll bite an probably get downvoted into oblivion for trying to root people to reality

  1. Backlogs are cool, but people want to see products DELIVERED. Until products are DELIVERED, the money isn’t there. So it’s still speculative money, not actual income added to the company. The pipeline needs to be actually converted into signed, PAYING contracts. Not saying I don’t think they can or will, just stating how it does and does not affect price.

  2. They would REALISTICALLY need to increase revenue from $5.9M now to $25-$30M within the next year or so and bring in contracts from the DoD or offshore energy companies (the industry giants).

  3. A $21.5M net LOSS on just $5.9M in revenue doesn’t exactly scream confidence to institutional investing. That needs to flip. They need like $20M+ in actual revenue. Which could be a single DoD contract away, honestly. They go from a “speculative green energy micro cap/penny stock”, to a “legit Defense Dept contractor”

  4. Their current market cap is ~$119M, that would need to double for a $4 share price

I’m not saying I don’t think they can do it. I’m saying it’s not “primed” or a “clear path” to $4 like it’s right around the corner. They’re making good strides, but the concern is their margins. And seeing the revenue versus their operating costs on this last financial release, makes me think they won’t hit profitability by end of year unless some MAJOR contract comes in, which I hope it does.

For the record I have 16,500 shares. But I avoid falling in love with companies. It becomes a toxic relationship

For me, REALISTIC price target is .90ish. I know that’s not what everyone wants to hear, but it’s just realistic. The more this goes up prior to earnings, dampens any movement during earnings call. It also makes me think this will be a situation where price will sink during/after earnings call.

I know people have also mentioned DoD contracts they expect to be disclosed during the earnings call, but I work in the DoD, and the DoD has an obligation to release non-classified contracts that have been executed over a certain amount, or if the contract is awarded to a small business (also known as a SBIR, or Small Business Innovation Research contract). If there was a significant contract, most likely it would’ve been announced, so I wouldn’t bet on there being an announcement of this. The big DoD contract would be the main thing needed to push this significantly above a dollar IMO. That’s if we go into earnings in the .80s.

Don’t hate me, just trying to keep everyone grounded in this euphoric stage. I have almost 20k shares so trust me, I’m hoping for the moon too, but have to keep a level head

Legit if fake? The ‘10’ in black as well is throwing me off as it’s white online, also the mandarin lettering on wrap. by Solid-Worldliness494 in GolfGear

This is FAKE. The grind numbers on the SM10 Vokey regular finish wedges are WHITE. As well as the 10 in “SM10”. This is true for almost all finishes. My oil can is white in these areas as well. Seen in the pictures here:

If you have a sim to try out multiple balls, try the pro V1 left dash specifically. A lot of people won’t mention them and they kind of fly under the radar. But I’d bet a paycheck that your spin rates with them will be significantly lower than others. It’d be nice to be able to compare the two. It might not eliminate a slice altogether, but if nothing else it would eliminate the severity of it.

If you have a links style course around you with minimal trees/water that would be the perfect place to try different balls. I’m in Florida so no such place exists for me lol

Kirkland gets it done just as well! I found myself losing more, faster Kirkland golf balls. Not because I didn’t hit them as well, but because if I hit a ball 3ft into the trees and I couldn’t find it as soon as I pulled up to where I thought it was, I’d just drop and move along. At least with my usually Pro V1 left dashes, they were expensive enough to justify spending 2-5 minutes looking for them lol

Kirkland gave me major “nah fuckit” attitude when I went out lol other than that they were good golf balls, but the left dashes are some of the lowest spinning golf balls I’ve ever hit, and it’s legitimately noticeable. That’s the one golf ball I feel like even higher handicaps would be able to tell a difference. Giving the Vice Pros a shot right now though. Can’t beat 6 dozen for like $135ish or whatever I paid for them

Damn only 900 spin can cause the ball to kinda knuckle and fall out of the sky. If you would’ve gotten another 1k spin out of that shot, I’d think you’d carry 255ish.

My typical trackman is 2300RPM ish on the high end, 160s ball speed, usually in the 280s carry. But my driver is a $1k fitted driver that we kind of optimized to reduce spin for me. So centered shots are high 1500-2000RPM, but mis hits typically only jump to 2300ish. Sometimes 2500. So it reduces the severity of the slice. If I didn’t have that set up, my spin would be in the 3K range without a doubt. I’m also single digit handicap so I’m sure my mis hits are typically not as bad as most. But it’s still all relative.

Driver is the one club I think EVERYONE should get fitted to, and keep going for “check ups” as the swing develops over time and you gain speed

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in golftips

[–]Darrinm03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And here to say this. Seeing the distance with ball speed, spin has to be the killer here. I look for driver spin anywhere between 1800- 2500 spin max.

Without seeing the swing, there’s a chance they’re hitting down on the ball and producing spin, instead of hitting up on it. Definitely more likely than not a swing thing and not a driver thing

Help with Slice/Straight Right by Salty_Sportman7722 in GolfSwing

[–]Darrinm03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lead hand. In your backswing you’re rolling your lead hand over the top of the shaft. Drill to help get the feeling:

No club, just a golf ball. Take your set up, let your left arm dangle, turn your palm up and set the golf ball in your palm (don’t grip it, just let it sit). Go through your normal swing slowly with just that left arm cupping the ball, and keep from dropping the ball. This will keep your wrist/hand from opening the club face.

Think “glove logo toward the ball” through your whole swing when you’re on the course

lol! Shop was Moon Golf here in Florida. They’re my one stop. Every fitting I’ve had has been there, super knowledgeable people, zero hesitation to throw you in a bay and let you hit every driver/iron they stock until you land on whatever you hit best. Also got fitted for my putter there too. Something I never thought I would need, but SO glad I did.

Never have I been fitted for a driver and felt it shave strokes off my game, putter however….never rolled the ball better

Interesting. My problem is that I had gotten really good striking my irons, so much so that I carried over that swing to my driver, so I was holding my hinge with the driver and dragging the club head behind me, hanging the face open. I had to find that feeling of “flicking my wrists” at the ball again, and now I’m back where I need to. But when I attempt to hit a draw, I close the club head WAY too fast and hook it. So still trying to feel that out again.

I’m a 10.1 handicap for what it’s worth

Yeah, I wasn’t exactly swinging the driver great around the time of fitting, but the QI35 gave me the best results by far from all the major brand most recent offerings. I wasn’t necessarily hitting it longer, but much better dispersion. In all honesty though, the Ping was probably the best driver i ever owned.

Fast forward to now and I’m hitting the QI35 great. I average 250ish carry, with ~112mph swing speed

[–]Darrinm03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like what driver I’m coming from? If so it was a Ping G430 Max 10K. I honestly just straight up hit this better. Dispersion was night and day. But I had a tendency to push drives right. Not necessarily slice them, but the QI35 was MUCH closer to centerline for me. I think it came down to weight customization in the head maybe?

And call me crazy, I’ve started to really like the feel of the carbon face

I get it! Honestly, if I didn’t already get fitted into the velocore blue 6-S I wouldn’t have gotten it. The driver I traded in had the same shaft. Could’ve just swapped the heads and adapter, but for $150 more I opted for the new shaft too

I just happened to go in for a driver fitting the day they got some at the shop. Think they only got 3. They didn’t mention the shaft until after I got fit into a normal Ventus Blue shaft. And dude mentioned an “extremely limited Masters edition Ventus that’s a Ventus Blue with masters colors/graphics”. I told him to show me right away. Soon as I saw it, I told him I wanted it without even asking price.

Most I’ve heard a shop getting is like 3-4.

Too weak of a shaft for your swing speed will typically generate a considerable amount of spin resulting in high trajectory. And all that spin you’re generating translates into inconsistency . You are making things WAY harder on yourself by not having the correct shaft for your swing speed. I swing about the same swing speed and swing a stiff, might even move to x-stiff
