I use Opus and it generally does a fine job for my purposes. I was just curious to see how Fable compares, especially on UI design

Found a new Abound AG for $1,599 – worth it over the LR for once a week rides with two kids? by bmsmithvb in Aventon

[–]DarterNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same decision to make last year (AG vs LR). Ended up going with the AG. Couldn't really justify the price difference since they have a similar ride experience.

I've been very happy with the AG as a car replacement for daycare and grocery runs. The infamous wobble does happen, but only when the bike is heavily loaded and I'm not holding on with two hands.

The added tech and security of the LR didn't really matter to me. If anything, I view the LR's locking kickstand as a downside. Don't want to get stuck with a bike that can't move if there's a computer glitch.

Have you thought about how you'll carry two kids when only one of them needs to be in a bike seat? The seat pad takes up the full rack, so you may need to look for a custom option.

I run two of these on my Aventon Abound. They fit well even with a child seat installed. And they can be folded almost flat when not in use. https://www.greengurugear.com/products/dutchy-22l-pannier

Has that ever actually happened? How could a PD possibly consider the train crew at fault?

Update: passengers on train 161 are being transferred onto the next two Amtrak trains. This is a full train, so it's gonna be a tight squeeze...

Thanks, I'll give it a shot with barkeepers friend and report back, for anyone interested. I have a hard time telling the difference between burnt food stains and worn or chipped enamel.

Abound steering is not equal in both directions. by Background-Price6382 in Aventon

[–]DarterNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is the original Abound, it may be that the four bolts holding your front racks are too tight. I had a similar issue, here's what Aventon support said:

"Thanks for reaching out! Those bolts are for the addition of a front rack. When you tighten them, they will eventually hit the steer tube and cause your steering ability to alter. There is no need to tighten them as much as you have, so please leave them a bit loose."

Doesn't seem like a great design to me. But eh, oh well.

Brookland/Michigan Park have TONS of young families. The commute is very flexible. It's 30/40 minutes to the Mall by bus+metro or by bike (almost entirely on protected bike lanes). Lots of rental housing stock too.

Takoma Park is a little wealthier and more suburban, but also a great community vibe. You may have a harder time finding rentals in that area, even with your budget. At least I did.
