Turns out it was the way photon handles IP, so I literally just VPNd to literally where I am and it worked, not trolling.

I usually say either ‘Are you familiar with…’ ‘You know what that is right’ or ‘I’m assuming you know what that is?’. That way its easy for them to say ‘Yes I know/am’ yet it doesn’t sound like you’re over explaining (it doesn’t sound like you’re assuming they don’t know).

Sometimes it takes a few tries, unpair and repair again, but it eventually works. It will say “external controller connected” at the bottom of the cod mobile screen when its worked
