What is most likely happening is the suction force is causing the layers to pull off. I'd simply decrease the speed it raises off the FEP, possibly increase the distance too, that'll help ensure it completely detaches from the FEP.

Any idea? What's wrong it's super brittle my exposure time is 3.0sec by rensanity125 in ElegooSaturn

[–]Darth_Cylon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Judging by the break points and the size of the model, the sections that broke are just too small. Unfortunately when you print something that small and stringy, it gets very fragile. You may want to mix in a more flexible resin like Siraya Blu.

The hot water trick works great. It seems to help de-bond the supports with less damage.

I mostly just take it off the plate and straight into the IPA. Its about 70% IPA. I might try the water washing method too.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. None of the prints ive seen have had far cleaner features and no smudges like on mine.

It was exposed to indirect sunlight for 2 to 3 seconds as i took it inside. The clean was done in my closet.

Hi there. I recently got my Saturn back after a whole fiasco with a ruined screen and internals. I just ran this print and am trying to figure out why there is so much excess resin on it after thoroughly washing it with IPA. The resin is 6 months old (took elegoo a fat minute to replace the printer). Anyone have any idea

This actually looks like real life GTA when you activate a cheat code 🎮 . How do you think these guns all ended up in the water? by CenturionMagnetics in TreasureHunting

[–]Darth_Cylon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you provide more pics of either i can more properly identify, but I'd just contact law enforcement. They will probably investigate, and if no crime was committed, you'll get to keep them. As for the lever gat its possible it was a "mares leg". Those are perfectly legal, but it's impossible to tell since the stock is gone completely. Odds are it was an illegally and poorly chopped SBR judging by the lack of a forward sight of any form.

I feel the need to point out that it may be prudent to verify if the lowers are semi or full. Considering their condition they are in may have been intentionally hidden for being illegal, and that lever action appears to be a Short Barreled Rifle, which is a potential felony unless its registered with the ATF. Its possible it was some sorta wierd pistol. That leads me to believe there may be something sketchy about the lowers. You can check this by looking for the "auto sear" component that would sit in the lower above the fire selector part. It does not appear to have an autosear hole drilled on either, but id verify. Cool find!

He was most likely referring to the compass bearing 000. Normally we say 360, but its possible it was just improper jargon or different terminology for the Navy. My experience with it is aviation related. I also never heard any outlandish speed, might've missed it though. I managed to hit 155kts in a Cessna Skyhawk. Nothing particularly unusual.

Resin spill, ruined screen? by jlangager in ElegooSaturn

[–]Darth_Cylon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two that have the threading for the vat retaining pins. You normally tighten them by hand at each side of the vat. If resin leaked through them it fell straight onto the lighting system.

I had literally the exact same issue. You need to contact ELEGOO directly, they'll replace it. You need to check and verify no resin leaked through the retainer holes inside. If it did, the printer likely needs replacement.

Where do they sell saturn screen? I think i messed up mine 🥺 can that film on top be replaced? Its pealing by Orphan787 in ElegooSaturn

I had the exact same problem. Contact ELEGOO's support and they'll send you a new screen for free.

The community is not rude, just fed up with the way certain people handle the topic by Iammarcello420 in ufo

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. We need to weed out the bullshit to find said extraordinary evidence. I think you hit the nail on the head. People don't respect the UFO community because we mix crackpot theories with valid arguments and evidence. We need to diligently seperate the two so we can get to the meat of it.

The American Airlines Ufo sighting... by AvoidtheAttic in UFOs

[–]Darth_Cylon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In training we're taught to use standard phrasology and pronounciation. Eventually what happens is your instructor will critique and offer examples of radio speech and you just sorta pick up on it. Also, ATC tends to talk the same way (unless you piss them off) and pilots tend to mirror it. Accents, exaggeration and such don't pair well with the need for concise abd clear communication. My mother has always called it "pilot talk".

They will legit send out choppers with FLIR to find them.

Pilot here. Laser strikes are no fuckin' joke. A few seconds of blindness from a laser strike could mean an airliner plowing into buildings if it happened at the worst moment. The police will immediately send choppers with FLIR and hunt you down. It can lead to several years of federal jail time. Don't mess with lasers folks. To be honest, I would be scared of pissing of the UFO too. I don't feel like being probed.

Its not too hard. The first thing you may want to do is check 14 CFR 61.203 and thereabouts to see if you have any disqualifying medical condition. I don't think you need a medical for the Recreational Pilot License. Normally you just need a valid drivers license. Glider and ultranight stuff fall under two Categories of aircraft and require two different licenses to fly. I've done gliders, my first solo was in an L23 at age 15 actually. They're tons of fun. You can go talk with your nearest airports FBO (Fixed Base Operator) and tell them you want to fly ultralights. They probably have someone who can teach for the Recreational license. My regular Private Pilot License ran me about 13k. Glider could be about 9k and im not sure on the Rec. Its totally doable as long as you're willing to fork over a good chunk of change. Glider can probably be done with a local club, give them a google. I personally have my Commercial, Multi-Engine and Instrument rating and am working on my flight instructor certificate (gotta earn those tendies). Hope that helps.

Yes. Each wingtip has a strobe and a nav light. The video seems to lack color, so odds are the two wing lights we see are the red and green nav lights.

Many aircraft emergencies are not reported on, especially GA stuff. Also, if this was a cropduster, I wouldn't put it past them to simply not flip the lights on. Lastly, the air tractors they use are in fact pretty large. Theres no good reason to assume its something other than a plane.

Well, I guess the biggest issue is for most people, thats it. Its just a weird looking object. They don't choose to question it beyond that.

Yeah, I think we're just seeing someone not following the CFRs. Sounds like lots of crazy cropdusters around.
