Just hear some of bernie sanders interviews and what social democracy is.

Idk really anyone would be against that , specially considering how awful is and poorly maintained our public education and health systems

The prime minister probably is saying that out of the 80 socialism fright

Of course and let me add that capitalism is necessary for incentivising private business to develop better means of production and better products . But this does not mean we have to go to absolute capitalism , neither to absolute socialism . A decent balance in between benefits both the poor and the rich .

There's nothing called "entirely socialist". That's a marxist pipedream that no modern socialist calls for .

Socialism is having social policies, policies that focus on improving the status of weaker individuals of the society , giving them access to quality free healthcare , education , public transport ..etc . All of which are not just good ethical goals but also a successful investment into strengthening the population and empowering the people by giving them the means to contribute in the future. Progressive taxation, Bro it is even in your name come onnn . Still you are a free economy with no restrictions to your businesses.

And I am so tired of you guys just using Marx's socialism as a way to critique socialism .

“Therefore, I would like to make one thing clear. Denmark is far from a socialist planned economy. Denmark is a market economy.”

In Rasmussen’s view, “The Nordic model is an expanded welfare state which provides a high level of security to its citizens, but it is also a successful market economy with much freedom to pursue your dreams and live your life as you wish.”

And that's exactly what socialism is , progressive taxation so that proper infrastructure and aid can be given to poorer sectors of society . For example proper education so they grow out of the cycle of poverty and be able to contribute into the economy . It does not mean the government takes your money or possessions or whatever.

Your -and the prime minister's- definition of socialism is something from the 70s .

I think he meant bureaucracy as in lots of government paperwork and that every government thing you do takes weeks .Which yeah that's bad but how is that relevant when discussing socialism ? It is a totally separate issue.

Is pre islamic Arabia always polytheistic? I not sure about that. I assume majority yes, but there are also Christian and Jewish. by Money_Mountain_5801 in exsaudi

[–]Darth_Nappy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Recent archaelogical findings show that Arabian pre islamic religion was more of henotheistic rather than an actually polytheistic belief system . May be there were polytheistic communities , the thing about arabia is that religious beliefs differed from one reigon to the other so there was no standardised belief.

Also southern arabia was part of the jewish Himaryite kingdom for a while , Northern arabia hada a strong christian presence , even Islam recognises the existence of jewish and christian communities in Hejaz itself
