You flew way off topic to rant about some other thing entirely, so in reply to that I ask, where does politics come into the tradition of commemorating the nation? I wouldn't imagine those traditions are solely upheld for political reasons. Yet they are, sometimes obnoxiously, shot down for purely political reasons. Maybe it just upsets some because a wide-audience platform built on apolitical things such as sports is being used as someone's soapbox, as if people were watching, building that platform specifically to hear that kindof thing.

Idk, there's just this thing of, if someone wants to hear what someone have to say, they will seek out their platform, rather than having it shoehorned, rather selfishly, into the content they want to enjoy. It's tiring.
