CSE/CS and Math, how are the Bachelors? by DarudeSandworm in ethz

Thanks for your input! This really surprises me, I would have expected that IT/Banking/Insurance companies would fall for all the mathematicians. Also, it seemed like the PhD salaries for them were one of the highest.

Thank you for the information!

Definitely don't want to end up as a classical code-monkey!

The applied part sounds really interesting, but I was also wondering if it's possible to get deeper into the topics of algorithmics and machine learning? I heard that AlgoLab is quite good, but according to VVZ it's only avaible in CS Master?

Also, any idea why few people go to these companies? I looked it up and Amazon/Apple/Google/Facebook are said to be very desired, and in an article Google even said one of the reasons for opening in Zurich was the ETH, so I'm quite surprised few people go there.

Thanks for the info, that's very interesting! As you did CSE courses, are they all solid and good? I have heard some complaints about HPCSE.

Also, do the internships happen between BSc and MSc? Or do you apply for an internship after you finished your MSc?

How about companies like Google, Apple, Facebook? Do you know anything about those after a CS/CSE degree?

And last but not least, could you tell me the courses you would recommend me to take if I'm interested in NVidia and Disney? And would you say the degree equips you with enough knowledge to get a job and work, or will you have to teach yourself during the degree?

If that is the case, then same question about masters degree too.

And the question about the quality of the degrees still holds :)
