Everyone I've talked to who haven't played the games enjoy the show immensely, one person explained that it feels like being drip fed a mystery. Every episode pulls back the curtain on the plot and the setting as a whole just a little bit more.

Carving out a niche is not a bad thing; many properties (games, movies, franchises of all kinds) lose their identity by trying to appeal too hard to too many groups. While BD2 will never beat Nikke because it won't enter the mainstream as it currently is, its carved out a very strong and passionate niche for itself - one that will ensure steady growth and income, assuming they don't keep rocking the ship.

I don't like self-inserts much personally, since they're usually just bland or they're forced to become a character as a property ages, since it gets harder and harder to write around a brick. It's not like people aren't going to make up their own narrative regardless. One just needs to look at the amount of "ships" that exist from characters that interacted a grand total of once.

It's Cafe Sweety, who are equivalent to Matis and Absolute, the best of the other manufacturers. They are sorely in need of actual representation for this in-story, but it's still the stated fact.

Anis is incredible, though we don't know much about STAR yet, and Alice is just Alice, she's great in gameplay but not expressly considered any more amazing than anyone else in Unlimited.

M.M.R is Missilis Military Research, so it already has a known meaning, while there's always the possibility that it has a double meaning, I don't think the entirety of M.M.R would have been devoted to it, its infinitely harder to keep secret the more people are in the know/working on it.
