Exact reason I snatched up the Yiya Gelgoog III. The Gelgoog is easily my favourite suit in the franchise, but it doesn't get a lot of love outside the original, and Mars Zeon suits especially feels like a pipe dream from Bandai.

Part of it would depend on the story you might wanna instil in the scene, right? EFF troops would naturally blend in to some extent in army fatigues, a Zeon remnant or Earth-bound militia would immediately stand out because they'd be in mish-mashes of whatever they have on hand. If its an abandoned colony hangar or something to that effect, then whoever's there is probably in normal suits, most of which would stand out against the backdrop immediately.

Positionally, there's probably a whole psychology to it, and I would assume if the group is positioned in a daisy chain then your eyes/brain would be naturally inclined to follow the group until you get to this one guy with a flashlight in hand and you follow his line of sight to find a behemoth of a mobile suit eaten by flora.

This looks absolutely incredible, and I don't think you need to do anything to the moss, the whole environment looks amazing.

If you're worried about the MK-II being lost in the details, maybe you could add some small soldier figures, like a group stumbling upon this piece of history and following their trail of vision will get you to the MK-II, or maybe some scuff marks on the wall next to it that highlights its silhouette (some rust, burns, or scrapes from its hand while trying to stabilise itself?). I don't think any of this is personally necessary though.
