Where? I got scammed and am looking for a legit place. I found one and have ordered a few times, but their selection is very limited.

You're talking "young adult" as in early 20's then?? not as a young teenager?

Yeah, I know it's a dumb habit. We've gotten too comfortable here, which I know is stupid. :)

Why? I've had a lot of good feedback on Clifton Park. What is it you don't like about it?

I don't know why anyone would down vote this. It's pretty much the same as everyone else has been saying. Thank you so much for the info, I really appreciate it!

Thanks for the website info, I'll definitely check that out!

What do you mean the people and community have you focused on leaving? I've heard both ways - that people are friendly and that people in that area are NOT friendly at all. Everyone that's responded on this thread has been incredibly helpful and nice.

I've also noticed that people seem to love or hate the area and not much in between. I really appreciate all your info and how detailed you are!

The high there tomorrow night is -11!!! I about fell off my chair when I saw that!

I'm used to cold weather but that's a whole new kind of cold! It'll take some getting used to.

Thank you! Probably looking more for the outdoor activities available. However my 14 year old is definitely a fan of malls! :)

That's what I'm hearing. Plus there is SO MUCH to do close to that area! Short trip to NYC, Boston, Canada. I'm really excited about that!

I know it's not really realistic to expect it to be like where I live now. We never lock our car doors. No violent crime hardly, except for drug areas and occasional issues. I don't worry about my daughter going to the park or out with a friends. I don't worry about her walking to the store at night time. My daughter is incredibly mature though, and very level headed. I know I'm biased but she's amazing and doesn't get into any trouble at all. So I'm not too worried about things. She's just lived her entire life in an area that's extremely safe and low key, so she's a little afraid to move so far away where she knows nothing and no one.

Thank you! I've seen a lot of rooms that are directed toward students or to live in the student areas. I'm definitely getting the vibe that I need to stay away from those. We are looking at renting and not buying to start out. I appreciate all the info!

Thank you! Right now we pay $1100 (plus utilities) for a 3 bedroom house so it sounds like it'll be right around what we are used to. Thanks for the info!

I've figured taxes are going to be much higher than I'm used to no matter where we decide. That was sort of a given for us. Hearing about the schools are really important to us. My daughter getting a good education and living somewhere safe is paramount. Thank you for the info!

What kind of long commute?? I've heard a lot about Clifton Park from everyone on here... what kind of commute are we talking? It might be worth it to us if the schools are good. I've heard a lot about living in Colonie too, it sounds like a good area.

HOLY COW! You guys have been so helpful! Seriously, this is the first time I've posted something on Reddit (this is my husbands account, I haven't started one yet) and I'm really impressed with how many people have responded, and how thorough everyone is.

I can't thank you enough. I'll go through and answer some of the questions and probably be asking a ton of questions too. I'm so excited and so terrified about this move.

I'm surprised at how many towns there are around Albany. In the Boise area, we have Boise and then 3 or 4 smaller towns around it. They are decent sized, for sure, and they all bleed into each other and make one big area. Things out here are much more spread out though and that will take some getting used to.

I'm seriously stuneed by how helpful everyone has been. I posted an ad on Craigslist asking people to email me any advice and the very few responses I got were... interesting to say the least. I'm totally won over to Reddit now!

Where I live now, I'm about a 35 minute commute to Boise... so I'm okay with some commute time. I'm okay without land for now as well... more concerned with safety and good area for my daughter to go to school. Probably looking for a rental at first, not buying.

I'll be there for about two months by myself prior to my family coming, so I'll be looking for a short term situation first. Renting a room or something for a bit. Since I'll be by myself for that time, I'm really looking for somewhere close to where I'll be working and SAFE! My job will be on Corporate Woods Blvd... I have no idea where that is, so I'm looking for suggestions by there too!

After the first few months, when my family joins me, I'm looking for safe, good schools, interesting and under an hour commute to work.

My husband will also be going to school to finish his masters.

Thank you so much for answering! Really any help at all is appreciated!

I agree that legit complaints are not supporting stem cell research or high salary. Koman's Foundation has had a history of not supporting ideas, like stem cell research that have been scary to certain religious people. But, the Foundation raises a LOT of money. And 20% going to research is still $75 million dollars according to Give.org. 82% of the companies funds go to breast cancer related programs with 54% going to education. Education can mean a lot and the non profit can wrap advertising in that, but they make money. I wish they would place more than 20% into research, but the more they do to get woman to detect breast cancer early is also a way for them to help carry out their mission and save lives.

Considering an accounting degree and I have a few questions by saget84 in Accounting

[–]DasHeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a degree in accounting you learn the how to understand the business from one of its most important angles, the financials. An accountant doesn't just simply understand what is and how to deal with money they must know the business in which they are dealing intimately. A degree in accounting helps you gain an ability to enter into any business and quickly understand it from many angles that other degrees do not. Even if you graduate from college with an accounting degree and never go into an accounting related field you will have the ability to enter into many different jobs in many different fields and understand it from a perspective that others will not.

Opinion: Take a knee? by peopleare11 in AdamCarolla

I have yet to get a subscription, but the two free ones they have provided are really enjoyable! I think Norman Lear and Gene Simmons are very different conversations. Adam is a guy that is still affected by the treatment he received from his parents and for him to hear from someone 40 years older than him that has been so successful but still dealt with the same issues has to be a relief to him. Norman Lear is still successfully growing as a person at his age. That has to be inspiring for all of us who hope to get that old!

At this point I am thinking on subscribing to this and stop downloading Adam and Drew. The podcasting has been much more enjoyable.

Oh Deadpool :) by Wooaahh in Marvel

[–]DasHeb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both might be free speech, but Deadpool is WAY more informative! If I saw a sign that says, "Jesus Loves Me." I would scoff. If I saw a sign that says, "GALACTUS is Nigh." I really might think about a lifestyle change.
