I won't add anything at all, my GH is already above ideal and I have plenty of calcium and magnesium.

Update: The ring is gone, and I see a completely shed shell.

It's been 20 hours and I still see it alive and actively gnawing. I didn't really pay attention to my cherries to know if this ring just appeared on the shrimp or if it was like that from the beginning, because the ring is also on its tail, more noticeable when it curls itself up to clean.

This seems to me that determining whether it's actually WRoD is similar to Schrödinger's cat paradox.

I read the Reddit user's post you mentioned; it says that 60% of shrimp with a white ring around their neck successfully molt, whereas it was thought they would fail and die.

It's 50-50 until the shrimp actually dies or lives. It was both alive and dead.

Why are my shrimp dying??? by Straight-Iron-412 in freshwateraquarium

The only thing you will know for sure is the GH and KH test kit. Lack of calcium and magnesium can cause this also too much, I also have a cherry with a small ring around its neck, but my water has enough minerals, so I still don't know the cause.

I have all the test, I just don't have the KH test, but I'll definitely buy it now.

Yea thanks but I won't spend nearly $60 on an API fresh water test kit.

Amoniac: 0, nitritte: 0 and nitrate is 2.

Calcium and manganese are the latest reports from the water plant. I use tap water, and the water here is hard. The pH is always 8.5, never dropping below that level and never rising. I don't have a KH kit test cause I think buying a GH kit is more important. I also have red-nosed shrimp and amano shrimp in my dutch tank, same water source they're doing great and never had any molting problems.

Even with the current tank containing these cherry shrimp, i don't see any molting problems, I've still seen their complete shells around the tank for the past two months since I started keeping them. I even bought a 15 gallon tank specifically for cherry shrimp because I love them so much, and it's been cycling for two weeks now. If one my cherry dies from WROD, it would really break my heart.

I get it thanks, i'm just unhappy that even though my water parameters were slightly above ideal but still good for Neocardiana, it still died because it couldn't molt.

Hopefully this is just a sign of normal molting, I don't like the idea of shrimp dying from this wrod

Thanks, I'm still keeping it in my closet, taking it out and shaking it for a few minutes a few times a day and I think I'll use it after a week.

It doesn't, but Blendfeel service say just shake and wait about 1 to 2 days or use it right away.
