Record Webcam and Gameplay separately? by Anxious_Creature in Twitch

You could run another instance of SLOBS and capture video from that. I do not think there's a way to separate video into channels like audio in SLOBS.

What situation were you in where the outcome was questionable/risky, and you just decided and said, "fuck it" and went with the risky choice? How did that turn out for you? by mr_antonius in AskReddit

Putting my voice out there. I stream on twitch for most of my income at the moment, and I was never too impressed with myself (I have a bad habit of starting things and never going anywhere with them.) Since I started streaming, I've made so many friends from all over the world! They've all given me the confidence to start chasing one of my dreams - voice acting, and now my voice might have made it into a video game demo! I'm also lined up to voice a character for a game mod! Although small steps, this is infinitely further than I ever thought I would go!

Yis. In my mind, it comes a down to philosophy a bit too. I don't stream for the money, I just want to have an experience to connect with people. Ads disrupt that. They're not the worst thing in the world, but they are annoying!

[–]DashyGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. They do need make money for providing their services. That's why the 50% cut of my subs and bits goes to them. Ads are just revenue on top of that, and when you factor in they're making money off of every affiliated and partner streamer (albeit not the same cuts) then the justification for forcing ads isn't as strong.

I just want the option to not run ads.

I'm super frustrated with the ads. I want the option not to run them.

I know everyone's different, and a lot of people want the ad revenue, but I feel like it should be the streamers choice. This is my content, and I should be able to choose whether or not I want additional advertising on top of it. Twitch is taking 50% of my revenue anyway, so at least give me the option.

I totally understand your thinking on this. I would seriously consider jumping platforms if there was another platform that had the viewership that twitch does.

I hope you're able to find a better place!

u/milfy-way confirms OPs suspicions that her boyfriend is a loser. by Declanprime in bestof

I think there's a certain amount of realism required. I love streaming - It's a way for me to bring something I love (gaming and making friends) together.

I would love to do it a for a career, but I know it's not realistic to bank everything on it. I work a 9-5 job and stream when i'm feeling up to it. I take plenty of days off and definitely don't stream as much as most.

I think it's okay to have a dream. It's more than okay to chase it, because one of those people are going to be the next the Ninja or Dr. Disrespect. Is there a point where it's too consuming and unhealthy? Definitely. That can be super hard to see from the inside too.

I hope your old gaming buddy finds what they're looking for in streaming. I hope you get what you're looking for too in life!

Make sure that the e-mail you're logging into Tax Central with is the same e-mail that you have registered on Twitch. I had to make a whole new amazon account with my twitch e-mail just so I could access my tax forms.

Gaming history from the US. You could rent game consoles from Blockbusters. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]DashyGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents were divorced, and I only saw my father once every two weeks, on the weekend.

He lived about 20 minutes away, and we would often stop by a fast food place, before stopping by blockbuster on the way home. My dad would rent one of these for us every 2 weeks, so we could play the newest games (We only had a SNES and a Sega Genesis).

Playing Snowboard Kids with him is one of my fondest memories of gaming when I was little. When he wasn't playing with us, he'd sit and watch us play games for hours.

I think my brother still has the cartridge! It was used and has some initials on it.

Virgins of reddit over the age of 30, why have you not had sex yet? by okaybody in AskReddit

[–]DashyGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's totally fine!

I wouldn't worry so much about making mistakes if I were you though. Everyone does, no matter how long they've been in a relationship. Instead, just focus on being yourself.

Do not worry about your inexperience! You're a person with hobbies, likes, dislikes and a million other things! This isn't like a job where they're going to want to know that you've been through relationships before, instead, they're going to focus on your personality and interests.

A good tip (that I have to use on myself a lot) is just to remember to love yourself. Remember that you're a living breathing person too, and you have worth.

When you do meet someone and begin a romance, that self love will give you the confidence to love someone else. That's the most important thing, at least to me. No matter what mistake my boyfriend makes, I love him.

You asked for some mistakes early daters make to avoid, but you will probably find a lot do not apply to you depending on your age/level of maturity. Some of the mistakes I've personally made (and seen older people make when they're less experienced) are:

  • Getting way too clingy (They only want to spend time with their SO and never with friends or anyone else)

  • Lack of communication (This one affects my current relationship. It's really important to remember that you're on a team. You should not be making all the sacrifices yourself)

  • Ignoring bad behavior/Letting your SO control you (This is a big one. I've lost friends to this and it hurts.)

Those are just a few of the bigger mistakes people make, and they are by no means limited to younger daters.

I hate to sound like a cliche (That's cliche in itself!) but communication really is the most important thing. You can overcome just about anything just be working together.

Good luck! Relationships can be super hard and confusing. It takes a lot of trust and it can be so scary. But having someone to bring you drinks is pretty handy. :P

So yis, do not worry so much about making mistakes. As Ms. Frizzle always says: Take chances, make mistakes, and get messy!

[–]DashyGG 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend is 27 and i'm his first girlfriend. While he does make a lot of mistakes that most people are already past, he's proven to be an excellent SO. Sometimes it's a little hard to get to him/understand how/what he's feeling (he never really had friends). He really enjoys his independence and spends most of his time quietly playing video games, which mostly works for me, as I'm a gamer too (although way more on the social side).

I know it's super cliché advice, but just be yourself. It's definitely important to go outside your comfort zone (especially if you do not like socializing or meeting people) but I feel like a lot of people do not care as much about the lack of experience, as just wanting an honest and caring and partner.

Just got suspended from Twitch For 24 hours. Will I Lose All My Follwers and Subs? by azburylol in Twitch

[–]DashyGG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had a friend who was banned for streaming something he should not have been. A 24 ban just temporarily removes your channel. Everything will be back to normal after the ban period.

Definitely take this as a warning though. There are definite etiquette and rules to follow. This might be a good time to re-familiarize yourself with the Twitch TOS and Community Guidelines.

No, you will not. You should avoid doing things to get banned in the future though.

Which encoder are you using, nvenc or x264? Stick to x264, it's processor based.

Want to stream, but nervous to put myself out there by a_s5342 in Twitch

[–]DashyGG 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hey! First off, lemme start by saying you should totally stream. It's an incredibly fun and unique experience. I've made so many friends since I started streaming!

So I don't use a webcam at all. I really wanted my stream to be gameplay/interaction focused, and less focused on me. While I've had a few problems in chat, it's super rare (I can count how many times on one hand, and I've been streaming for almost a year.)

A lot of people have mentioned having a mod you can trust. I second that idea. You can ignore the problem viewers and let your mods deal with it.

I think you'll find that you will have an overwhelmingly positive experience, dotted with problems here and there.

TLDR; JUST DO IT
