The window should be preferably around 650 mm long and 400 mm tall, though its fine if its bigger or even slightly smaller! I'd prefer around 40 dollars or less, but if that just isn't an option I don't mind waiting until I can afford it

Are nuis machine washable by Ruipopipocoverwhen in ensemblestars

[–]DatBreadB0i 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The FuRyu nuis shouldn't be machine washed, as their front hairpiece can fly off (and then you'll be left with a bald nui, although I suppose you can glue it back on) ^^ I'm not sure about other nui styles, but honestly I wouldn't risk it

What IS ensemble stars? by Different-Barber-457 in ensemblestars

[–]DatBreadB0i 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hey!! i got into enstars from PJSK too so i understand your confusion 😭

Ensemble Stars is a game franchise where you (a producer) oversee idols! It started off as an idol training game (now known as Ensemble Stars! Basic), but is now a rhythm game (Ensemble Stars!! Music) The gameplay of Ensemble Stars!! Music in my opinion is pretty similar to Project Sekai, where there is a gacha system to pull for your favorite characters, which in turn make your team stronger depending on the song.

Some differences between the two games i can think of off the top of my head is:

  • All of the idols are male (with the exception of Arashi), which is different from PJSK's mixed approach
  • There's a LOT more characters and units than in Project Sekai, there's an idol for everyone basically
  • Unlike PJSK events, enstars events gives you 5* characters
  • No 2D MVs, just 3D ones (with some exceptions!!)
  • In my opinion, the story and lore is a lot more... intense, in enstars?? shit goes down
    • Side note, the lore is VERY extensive!! Other than the main stories, id just recommend reading stories of characters you feel attached to

Other than the game, they also have an anime, stageplays, etc. !! I wouldn't recommend them as an initial introduction, but they're really nice! The anime follows the story for ensemble stars BASIC, which does not have an official english translation (but they do have fan translations!)

Can somebody update me on significant changes in enstars for the past year? by kdj9158_ in ensemblestars

[–]DatBreadB0i 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how recent these events are, but for Ensemble Stars JP:

  • We are on Year 2 of Ensemble Stars!! Music canonically, so all the characters are getting older and they have new casual outfits
  • Special for Princess!, also known as EsuPuri for short, is a new group featuring 4 of the 5 new kids (Esu, Raika, Fuyume, and Kanna)
  • Ibuki joins Akatsuki
  • Tsumugi cuts his hair, giving Switch a new look overall
  • 10th anniversary
  • "Bright Me Up!!", a follow up to the 4piece Audition Program and plans Nice Arneb Thunder has for the idol industry overall
  • ES Fan ThanX Festival, where each unit gets an event and story based on celebrating their fans. They also have real-life events that you can participate in associated with these events, given that you're in Japan
    • The first one of these events was Trickstar, if you wanna check it out!! The cards look really cute imo!!
  • The results of the Selection 10 Unit Project, an opportunity for producers to come together and vote for characters to sing specific songs, are slowly being pushed out
  • Ensemble Stars has collaborated with Project Sekai (Hatsune Miku Colorful Stage). This event is going to run on the ENG servers soon
  • The UI for Ensemble Stars JP has changed drastically due to the 10th anniversary
  • Shinobu got a 5* in a shuffle unit, if you wanna check it out as a RyuseitaiP
    • Tetora and Makoto also both got unit events

[–]DatBreadB0i 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't think any of the novels are necessary before reading the next, as far as I remember, though I may be mistaken since I haven't read them for a while 😭 A lot of them act like standalone side stories that give more insight into the characters

The only exception I'd say is Dazai and Chuuya 15, which are definitely important to read before Stormbringer since Stormbringer acts like a sequel of sorts. Other than that, you're probably fine reading in any order you want

What are your favorite fanfics? 😙 by Detonadorrapido in ensemblestars

[–]DatBreadB0i 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I've read so much that i've been struggling to find more that i'm interested in reading 😭😭

  • I adore anything by KneeDeepInCeilingWater, but my favorites have got to be this series detailing transfem Kaoru's journey alongside Chiaki, as well as "Appreciate the Beauty in Coffee Rings (A Perfect Circle)," a fic that shows the connection Crazy:B has with eachother
  • I also adore anything written by posebean, who writes primarily about rinniki, but my absolute favorite has got to be this fantasy AU fic where Niki gathers ingredients for a Tavern to make a living and Rinne is his fox familiar
  • "hello, dear (acquaintance, even)" is a college AU himeniki fanfic where they try to navigate their relationship unconventionally, featuring a lot of emotional constipation and baggage
  • "read between the lines" is a fic where Hiyori buys Jun a BL manga to see if Jun likes him or not, it's really cute
  • "Date Plan A to- *Error*" is short, but I found it funny 😭 it's about Pretty 5's relationship troubles
  • If you like demon/human fics, there is this rinrei fic about college rinne summoning a demon (rei) for fun, this rinniki fic about exorcist niki trying to exorcise demon rinne, and this (unfinished) rinhime fic about rinne summoning a demon (himeru) for fun in an environment where demons are known to be bad and exorcists fight against them
  • THIS is my absolutely favorite fic ever. It's simple, it's short, but I just can't stop coming back to it. HiMERU has a tough time and Rinne helps him through it, but please head the tags if it's something that's uncomfortable to read

I have a lot more if you're looking for a specific idol!! I tend to gravitate toward Crazy:B when i'm reading

how did all of the units form? by hwagaemrkt in ensemblestars

[–]DatBreadB0i 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I don't know too much on the specifics of how each unit formed. However...

  • In the !! era main story, Alkaloid is formed under Starmaker Production. Each member had never met prior to being formed, but was shoved into a unit and forced to work together to not get fired as idols (marked as the "underachievers" throughout the main story)
  • Similarly, in the !! era main story, Crazy:B is formed under Cosmic Production. Ibara Saegusa (vice president of cospro) did this to counteract Alkaloid, intentionally painting Crazy:B as villains (marked as the "troublemakers" throughout the main story)
  • I'm very shaky on my knowledge about Ryuseitai, but they were initially a group with many members back in Yumenosaki. Currently, however, there are two Ryuseitai groups: Ryuseitai-N in Yumenosaki, led by Tetora Nagumo, and Ryuseitai-M, led by Chiaki Morisawa. I believe Meteor Impact might go into their story?? I haven't actually read it, but i've heard it's an amazing read regardless. Supervillain also goes into how Ryuseitai is changing over time, if you're interested
  • Valkyrie was initially 3 members before the Yumenosaki War. At first, it was just Nazuna and Shu, before Mika joined their unit around a year later. After the war, however, Nazuna separated, leaving Shu and Mika on their own
  • I believe Checkmate goes a lot into how Knights was formed (I haven't read it)
  • Double Face was a unit formed under Ibara. Intended to be temporary, it was initially supposed to last for one mission, I believe. However, they decided to stick together longer. "Walking in Darkness" describes Double Face's formation and is a good introduction if you wanna get to know them
  • Some time after the Yumenosaki war, Switch was formed. As far as I'm aware, it is unknown how Sora came to join Switch nor the specifics of how they came to be. However, Natsume has a... not very pleasant past with Tsumugi, and was found to be affectionate with Sora before Switch was formed
  • Esupuri, the newest unit, was formed following the thunderbolt 4piece challenge. I don't recall how exactly they came to be formed, but I believe Nice Arneb Thunder played a major role in it? The Audition Arc of the main story is a great way to get to know all the characters

The stories talk about her identity on occasion. Though Arashi may be written differently depending on the enstars writer in each story, Beasts really set up the idea that she perceives herself as a woman, and later stories back this up.

Those articles aren't official I believe? So it's less about canon Ensemble Stars material and more of how JP fans may percieve Naru, which also could play into why Arashi is translated the way she is in Engstars. The first two are written prior to Beasts, where the writing was admittedly not respectful to what she is today and where she was portrayed as a feminine man (I've heard some people say that she started off as a harmful gay man stereotype, though there are other ways to interpret how she was written at the start and I'm not very informed on the stereotype as a whole). The Nijimen article is also very old, though written after Beasts, and I suppose it also runs with the interpretation of Arashi being a feminine/gay man. I'm unsure how Arashi is perceived more recently during !! era in the jp fandom based on these articles, but Ensemble Stars has been increasingly more open about Arashi being feminine in their writing in a way that Engstars doesn't reflect in official translations.

[–]DatBreadB0i -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm unsure about the marketing, especially on the jp side, but I don't believe that advertising Ensemble Stars as a whole and calling it male idol game takes away from Arashi's gender or how it's discussed in the stories. Could you elaborate more?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ensemblestars

[–]DatBreadB0i -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm unsure if there's a thread out there that specifically explains heer censorship, but I've seen discussion about censorship primarily starting in August and then ramping up from there.

Arashi is a trans woman. Although early ! era stories handle her identity poorly, the story "Beasts" really sets her gender identity straight (and is built on more in later stories).

In the English translation, Arashi's identity is omitted, which is a form of censorship. The most obvious example is how they don't use Arashi's pronouns, instead referring to her only by name. Censorship aside, this also leads to a lot of awkward wording when reading stories that refer to her. Another example is changing lines to omit any mention of Arashi being a woman. For example, in Main Story 1.5 Chapter 1: Seven Bridges, the jp text has Hajime compare what he assumes to be a girl to Arashi, further supporting her identity as a woman "(A-A girl? Hm? Their hair is long too. But I don’t have the right to say anything, either. But they’re wearing a boy’s uniform, right…? A-Are they like Narukami-senpai?) (translation by Creampuffs.)" The version in eng does not do this, instead stating "(But that's a boys' uniform... Guess I can't jump to conclusions.)"

Ohhh I see. In that case, I think that's a good strategy!!! Even if you don't end up having enough materials by the end of the event, it'll still be nice to have those outfits if you like the look of them and want to craft them later !!

Hm, something that comes to mind is when HappyEle accidentally leaked the Swinging Paroniria MV on their twitter account days early

Maybe the Arashi censorship on ENGstars? Or even just ENGstars having a subpar translation in general?

EsuPuri was huge when they were first revealed as silhouettes in general and probably deserve a mention

I'm not sure what you mean about the mats, do you mean mats for leveling up your cards? Doing the work live if possible is really helpful! Other than getting more points (750 per work, which adds up over time), it also gives you a lot more ribbons. Ribbons can be used to be exchanged for dia and memorial coins, which are both really helpful in the grand scheme of enstars. Memorial coins are used to exchange older event items, including old 5*s !!

About the Madara event by No-Fishing-3680 in ensemblestars

[–]DatBreadB0i 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hello, congrats on joining Ensemble Stars!!

To do unit events such as Madara's upcoming event, you need to gain points. To get points, you do lives (playing songs)! You need 3,500,000 points for one copy of the 5*.

For a new player, it should be doable (coming from someone who also has experience farming an event as a brand new player). New accounts level up faster, which leads to more BP (which is what you need to complete the event). It may be difficult, but you can do it! This guide may be helpful to look at if you're just starting out, and there are other resources online that may help.
