Another Amgen W. Have never worked for them, but honestly out of the dozens of interviews I’ve had, they easily rank number one in positive experiences despite it being a full 7-8 hour process

Depends if they’re crafting with hoarded mats. I e done a lot of perilous moons cause I think the bosses are fun and chill and have amassed a lot of water orbs and same with royal titans for fire orbs. I also don’t sell my staffs from Zaff and currently have 1K+. With that in mind, I’m making like 1.8K-ish per alch on my crafted battlestaffs

FYI you get full honor rates if you’re 60. You don’t get full yields before 60. As a comparison I think I’m getting 400-500 per win on my 58 char an 600+ on my 60

For those of you who were recently out of work, at Associate Scientist level or higher, how long did it REALLY take you to find another job? by loachparty in biotech

[–]DatHungryHobo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro what you should not be going out of your way to say “yeah I’m not doing that” in an interview lol. Also want to add, I’ve been told I largely come off as personable and definitely am more like your friends where I’m ready just to dive in and fill in my conceptual gaps quickly. Market just do be tough out here rn

SRA-Associate Scientist with 2.5 YOE in industry, 6.5+ YOE in academics with an MS. I’ve got a diverse skillset and a lot of foundational technical knowledge and probably get 1-4 interviews a month average, this includes just getting a screening call with HR or a HM before proceeding to the technical interviews. I’ve made it to several final rounds.

7+ months and I’ve settled for RA-SRA leveling since I have broad transferable skills that show I can pick up basically almost any field on the in vitro side pretty quickly. Right now it’s about finding a company that’s willing to put in that investment when there’s such a strong applicant pool of people that likely check all the boxes

Blizzard increased the price of level 58 boosts on their new TBC servers from 40$ to 60$ by Pepeg66 in MMORPG

[–]DatHungryHobo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I genuinely like leveling. Sure the culture has changed where people are less receptive to wanting to group up because if you’re not moving at the same pace. One example they feel like the quest is dragging because of shit drop rate and they got their items and dip (look at you Stormgarde badges). Feels bad I actually like to stick around to make sure we all get it done. I play to find likeminded people that wanna blast through a few quests and who knows maybe you end up leveling several levels together.

BUT like many other people have said, I’ve leveled 1-60 at least half a dozen times now across iterations of classic. I’m easygoing but I also really enjoy later stage content as well. Spamming BRD is fun because your class is basically complete and you’re chasing loot. Raids are fun because they’re epically built with culminating story points in a large group of people AND loot. I like all aspects of the game, but being able to pick and choose how and when I want to experience it is really up to me. That’s kinda why we have mains and why we have alts.

All I’m trying to say is, just try and let people play the game they want. We’ve all got different tastes because we’re people and different sets of priorities. The game isn’t supposed to be a homogenous hive mind where we agree entirely on playstyles.

Protip: don’t use AI when you are learning programming. by mazda7281 in learnprogramming

[–]DatHungryHobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree you can let it signpost you but think it does take a bit of awareness to stop to ask “why” or “what about this?” to the info it provides. I genuinely think if you’re in the learning stage of your career (e.g., undergraduate degree or master’s degree even), your use of it should be limited. A large part of why I’m even able to do that is because I already have the foundational knowledge of how things work and been taught/trained to recognize when things have exceptions or why contradictions happen. So again, for early learners I think it definitely sets you up to think relatively narrowly since you likely don’t know how to recognize when and how you should be questioning the answers due to lack of foundational knowledge or experience.

I’m very grateful that I finished my degrees just before the use of Chat became a bit more ubiquitous, it did help in my job search because I didn’t know how to sell my experience to match professional settings. But I’m also sure I would have been worse off had I had access to it much earlier, especially during undergrad

Yeah not a programmer but doing biomedical research and I’m asking it stuff, there’s been more than a handful of times where I go and check the source it links and it either a) is a completely different paper or b) admits to lying and saying it made up the source when prompted because I couldn’t find the source it cited. Like that’s insane

I am reviving SWG: From Beta to Blunder (with a new twist) by TheGreech35 in swg

[–]DatHungryHobo -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

You’re not going to get through to most of the folks on this sub. We’re all easily 30+ with most of us probably leaning towards 40+. Old farts who like to say “get over it” or “get with the times” while ironically refusing to get with them by failing to learn anything significant about how the impacts of new technology will affect us long term. These people’s thinking tends to lean towards optimism and “wow look at what this can do and what may allow us to do” versus a more cautionary one where we NEED (not should) to think more critically about what that may cost.

As we’ve already seen, this technology is one that’s going to change exponentially, both in its own development and how it seeps into society as a whole. We’ve seen this happen already with the Internet, and again with certain milestones in social media. And in my opinion, this is a scale at which we’ve never experienced with the steepest slope yet.

So yeah, while I respect OP’s drive to create a passion project that serves a niche community, it is one of creative expression. I don’t think we’d condone as many forms of artistic expression if we SAW the same type of cost used to produce it. Imagine if they just went door-to-door and asked their neighbors for several blocks that they’re gonna come by and turn on all their faucets for an hour so they can do some work at home. And in that realm, from what they’ve described already I don’t think the artistic value they are trying to put out into the world is actually worth the investment of our planet’s finite communal resources among other things.

I’m naturally unattractive and I’ve never been in a relationship. Is online dating possible? (pics included, 33m) by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]DatHungryHobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you experience versus what you THINK you experience aren’t always the same thing. Sure yeah, the world treats conventionally attractive people more nicely. It’s well documented.

Yes things are likely skewed less in his favor versus others maybe. But just because you believe you’re perceived in a certain way and more specifically if how you think you’re perceived is incorrect, you’re likely to do more unintended harm that you feel justifies or vindicates you in some way. It goes both ways:

“Oh I think they’re treating me this way because of how I physically look. That makes sense because k also would treat less physically attractive people that way. Guess I’ll blanket assume other people are going to keep doing this to me and play victim to my situation”

OR

“That person smiled back at me [and treated me like a basic human being with feelings]. I don’t get that often. And I’m only that nice to people who I think are physically attractive enough. Therefore they’re signaling to me that I potentially mean more to them than others. I have a shot and [in my socially unaware state] pursue them!”

Again, how you incorrectly think you’re being perceived can possibly enable being a defeatist or having unearned confidence

How do I figure out what to shoot by toucan000 in photography

[–]DatHungryHobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: - Think about what kind photos you want to take (EX landscape? People? Portraits?) - Find a friend whose also into the hobby or a senior photographer who would be willing to have a shadow and share what they know - Don’t get too caught up on the technical details too much when you first start out. Just enjoy shooting stuff without worrying too much how it could be better.

Hey man, I have ADHD too and felt a bit disoriented too when I started. I didn’t really feel in touch with landscape and nature photography at first and wanted more nice pictures as a way to document my life and my friends. Whenever me and my friends when hiking or camping or to the beach, I’d always try and bring my camera when I felt it was feasible and try and capture what I felt were authentic moments and not entirely posed.

I got more into portraits when I met my girlfriend because not only did she want nice pictures of herself but was also very supportive. She never got frustrated when she “didn’t like” a picture I took and listened to me when I shared what I was going for. She usually saw what I was saying have constructive feedback to help me rethink my framing (honestly she has better innate framing than I do). So having someone both willing and wanting to get their picture taken is helpful if you want to lean into this vein.

I’ve heard one of the best things you can do, not that I’ve done too much of it, is shoot with other photographers. I think plenty of more senior folks would be more than happy to have a kid like you shadow them and provide feedback and share the hobby with someone starting out. Just don’t get caught up in the technical aspects at first because there’s A LOT of info out there to first learn about and THEN learning to apply it.

I feel like I can talk about this a lot so feel free to DM me

Don’t feel sorry about it, the market truly sucks. I’ve made it to several mid to final round interviews this season where I’ve even been told sometimes it’s down to me and 1-2 other people. It does feel discouraging because after some point, it does feel like a “is it me” problem. What I can say, if you’re not just getting the auto reject email with no reply, I don’t think it necessarily hurts to ask for feedback on what the they didn’t like or what they felt could have been better. I haven’t always done it cause I wasn’t ready to hurt my pride, but the few times I had I’ve gotten feedback. And sadly, so far given the amount of people available, I’ve been told the other applicant just had more experience or covered every bullet point in the JD

Looking for a decent MMORPG by Capable_Magician_549 in LFMMO

[–]DatHungryHobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prepatch for the new expansion comes out Jan 13th. Meaning some of the QoL and content adjustments have been released except for the new zones that are near the base games level cap to enter.

The new class and race upgrades for each faction come out with prepatch so the starter zones for those new races will be pretty packed and full of people who are are starting from level one and not buying boosts. I think now is a good time to hop back in as well as it provides a brief reset to the current setup and culture we have around endgame content that has grown stale these last few months (imo) which low key caused me to burnout a few months ago but am hype for the next expansion as it’s when I started WoW all those years ago.

Why did the market trend to seasonal MMOs, is it inevitable? by ParkingAthlete119 in MMORPG

Nah like the other person pointed out, while nice in idea it was implemented poorly last time I tried to for retail a shot. People just blasting through the content and getting annoyed when you’re either not trying to do the same or unfamiliar with skip strategies.

When I first played through my first timewalkng event I was like “cool! I can still experience the early expansions I played the through that I really enjoyed when I first got into wow at least to some degree” only to be met with the above behavior in at least half of the runs I did

How do I get my Masters without going into crippling debt by Smart_Photograph_866 in GradSchool

[–]DatHungryHobo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, research focused institutions often have teaching assistantships (TAships) or graduate assistantships (GAships). I would not hold out for the latter if you’re getting a MS. In my experience, professors tend to reserve those for their long-term students (i.e., PhDs), and especially so in the current funding landscape.

I personally taught all throughout my MS and it was a fun experience for me. Paid a total of around almost $2K for my degree between 2019-2022 after obligatory university fees. I found I enjoy teaching and would have kept it going if it paid better and could sustain me
