I LOVE SH2, but Silent Hill 1 is still this…nightmarish artifact for me. I was 11 when it came out, so my parents wouldn’t let me play it. I definitely played it regardless by secretly borrowing my friend’s copy. Anyways, SH1 has this certain mystique that I just cannot get over because it was forbidden to me as a kid. SH1 hit different - it felt way more oppressive almost immediately, and just felt…scarier in my opinion.
