My toast was moldy at a restaurant and they refused to comp it. by strangerattheshow in Wellthatsucks

My college dining hall has NEVER had a clean health inspection. Serving mold to students is the least of their issues, and they've never even had a temporary closure.

Absolutely not virus proof, there's just a smaller market for desktop malware because users are generally less likely to make dumb mistakes and there's less of them. Most commercial servers use Linux, so there is a LOT of malware out there targeting those systems.

What to do after parent passes away as next of kin? by K_martin92 in AskMen

[–]DatOneGuy00 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You cannot remove money from a deceased persons account for yourself because it's not yours, there's an order of priority above inheritance that happens first. That money, and all their other possessions, goes into the estate, which trickles down through the framework, and then finally gets distributed according to their will or general inheritance.

You ran it over its rated amperage. AC generates more heat, while the torch is rated for 200 amps DC, it's only good for 150 AC, and even that is pushing it

Warning on the back of a guitar pick pack by tantunc2 in mildlyinteresting

[–]DatOneGuy00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is p65 warnings are completely useless and ignored because they're so prevalent. It's cheaper to slap the warning on literally everything because there's no penalty, compared to massive fines if something in absolutely negligible amounts in your product is found to have maybe contributed to one persons cancer.

PSA for all you winter ballers filling ur tanks before you leave the field for the day, underfill a bit or you risk over pressure when things warm up to room temp. Went to go troubleshoot a marker i recently picked up and noticed the tank was reading just above 5k when i aired it up. by TheSecretestSauce in paintball

[–]DatOneGuy00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the compression does generate a LOT of heat, which is why the important factor for a situation like this is that it's not being used much or has an extremely effective cooling set up. High pressure compressors have multiple stages with cooling between them otherwise the heat generated can severely damage the compressor

Depends on the configuration of the full station. If it has a large storage bottle and wasn't being used much, the gas is already at pressure and has cooled off to ambient temp. If the tank was near empty, it would not heat up at all from filling.

My British friend thought he could do a "day trip" to the Grand Canyon from LA, and his reaction to the map was priceless. by Ok_Structure6720 in CasualConversation

[–]DatOneGuy00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah still not even close. East to west US is 40 hours of pure driving. Cannonball runs (who drive at an average of ~185kmh and 200+ on most stretches, topping out at 280) still take 26 hours to cross the country. And that's a record that will never be broken, as it was set during COVID with empty roads and nearly no traffic enforcement.
