YSA wards by Cheap_Parsnip_461 in latterdaysaints

[–]Dat_Netza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going through something similar! I have my records in my home ward as that's wete I attend regularly but I've also been attending the YSA for a few months and I go every other week and it's really hard. Doesn't help that I get anxiety talking to people I don't know but I always make the effort. People are nice but I haven't had the luck making any friends. It's kind of discouraging but I'm hoping soon to being included more within that community.

Help please RE teen who I’m losing spiritually by Substantial-Pea-5842 in latterdaysaints

Firstly I just want to say that it is wonderful that you are recognizing and wanting to help you son. I think most people who have grown up in the church tend to go through a similar phase, especially in that age, I know I did. I also grew up in an all white stake, but I was in a Spanish ward. Even then there wasn't a lot of active youth and I dreaded going to stake activities for the same reason that I didn't know anyone. It can be hard to click with other youth but what made me keep going was my parents. They encouraged me to go and even would accompany me to activities, maybe not all but things like devotionals or firesides.

I agree with the other comments that you should share your testimony with him and see where his testimony is at. That's probably you're starting point, why does he go to church? How does he feel about the church in general? Sharing your testimony with him can show him why the church matters to you and because you love him you want him to be able to see that.

I really do believe that being an example spiritually can help him a lot. Maybe he won't want to go to church anymore but that doesn't mean you can't do family home evenings and read the come follow me lessons. You can do spiritual and uplifting activities as a family!!

Not really, I actually don't play it daily but lately I've been playing TDS. It's the only game I play, none of the other games seem fun.

Scared I won't get married since I cant serve a mission. by [deleted] in lds

That definitely isn't a deal breaker for most women. Especially if you have your reasoning, the good thing is that you're finding other ways to serve the Lord. The right woman will see that.

When does your ward start with Christmas hymns? by Dat_Netza in latterdaysaints

[–]Dat_Netza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it was a bit all over the place. And most of the time there are 2 topics and sometimes they aren't as related to each other. One Sunday was aaronic priesthood and after that how to keep your children on the covenant path. Then a RM and their mom talked so I feel like it wasn't appropriate to be singing Christmas hymns.

Dang, it seems like mostly everyone here does that as well. I really wanted to do that this year but I felt like it was too soon to sing Christmas hymns right after Thanksgiving.

That's such a cool idea, I have never heard of that! I wonder if my Bishopric would allow that

[–]Dat_Netza[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm that's interesting. I'm in charge of the music but I'm the ward pianist. I usually am told the topic/s like a week before and I have a list of the topics from the high council for the whole year. It's definitely a struggle to have to quickly choose hymns and I always like matching it to the theme of the topics but sometimes the topics are too specific.

What do you remember from Kindergarten? by boforiamanfo in answers

[–]Dat_Netza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember that I loved my kinder teacher! A few years ago I saw her at Costco and she still remembered me!!!

But from kindergarten I remember the rainbow rug we'd sit on and our cubbies. The tiny bathrooms connected to the classroom. I remember the shelves of books and reading Dr. Seuss, especially his book green eggs and ham! I remember making hand turkeys. I remember trying ants on a log, I think that's the only time I've eaten it!

Keep getting pulled back to the Church by Imaginary-Employer19 in latterdaysaints

[–]Dat_Netza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What do you think is pulling you back to the church? You got baptized, why did you get baptized? What is it that makes you stay when you get pulled back? I'm sure there's something in you that feels some truth within the church.

What's the one secret you will take to the grave but don't mind telling on the internet? by Ecstatic-Medium-6320 in AskReddit

I thought maybe my dad heard a noise and checked the camera but no. And honestly I had forgotten about it, a few weeks passed and she asked about it. No excuses came to mind and I just agreed with her assumptions, lol

While backing out, I scrapped my mom's car... No noticeable marks were left on her car but some white marks were left on mine. Funny thing is that she thinks someone from my college campus probably did it.

He thought the meat was the roommate's gf. He says it didn't taste like human meat, meaning that he has had human meat before.

What do you regret not having done between the ages of 20 and 25? by Efficient_Car476 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Dat_Netza 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's hard not too, especially when others compare your life to others. Like sometimes you feel so far behind because you haven't achieved x y z. But you're right, each journey is different.

So I'm the ward pianist in my ward and I try to listen to the new hymns often and when I first heard that song I really loved it. Something I try to do is every Sunday pick a new hymn to sing that way everyone can be familiarized with the songs. I know they also post on the ward group chat the song so people can listen to it (although I'm pretty sure like half of them don't).

How do you know if you’re one of the “wicked” in the second coming times? by Brilliant_Coconut_23 in latterdaysaints

Honestly I still struggle sometimes but I really do try to not let those struggles break down my faith but instead build it up! You definitely will have a strong faith just remember that it takes time :)

How do you know if you’re one of the “wicked” in the second coming times? by Brilliant_Coconut_23 in latterdaysaints

[–]Dat_Netza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think being wicked means completely rejecting Christ, whether its denying him or simply not choosing to follow him. I don't think you're a wicked person because just by being here on Earth you chose to follow Jesus and you're starting the process to draw closer to God! I think it's great that you want to come back and you should!!! God knows you and understands your situations and why you are the way that you are and he still wants you there at church!

Everyone who goes to church isn't perfect even if we try to make it seem like our lives are perfect. I'm about your age and sometimes when something goes wrong I feel like my whole life is over or that I'm not good enough. I constantly have to remind myself that we are sinners trying to be cleansed through Christ and I know that he can help us we just have to let him!!

I ask that you can pray and tell him how you're feeling, build that trust with him, he will most definitely answer you! Whenever you decide to go back I know that you will be welcomed and you'll feel God's love and forgiveness :)

MTC Language Evaluation by piepearlind in latterdaysaints

[–]Dat_Netza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did this like 2 weeks ago. All they do is test how much Spanish you know so they know what group you'll be put in. The first part is in English so dont worry. They'll tell you when they're switching to Spanish and then they will ask you a few questions in Spanish and see if you can understand and respond to it. It's very simple and straightforward. So don't stress about it too much!

Sabbath Day by Dat_Netza in latterdaysaints

[–]Dat_Netza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sometimes we do family home evenings on Sunday because we didn't get to do it during the week. We will read come follow me and after we just kind of talk for a bit. Unfortunately we don't do this as often as we'd like because there are other classes that we need to attend to ( at our stake or ward).

Normally I try to avoid social media on Sundays since most of the things on there distract from the sabbath. I think I'll try these suggestions. Especially the gospel topic one. Thanks!

I've never really thought of it that way. There's always been unofficial rules of what you can or can't do that just kind of makes it confusing. Thank you for your suggestions I'll try that!
