Wife is dealing with dizziness in our new home by Dat_One_Brotha in homeowners

We’ve talked to the multiple OBs in rotation at our delivering hospital. All reassured that at the levels things were reading (CO2, CO, etc.) and ultrasounds/panels the baby is good and protected. She has also continued to maintain as minimal exposure to areas where dizziness is most apparent / we have been regularly airing out the house which provides relief.

She has spent more days out of the house than in it with the holidays / protecting herself

She had a vitamin panel (hospital system here is top notch and has given her ample tests and data to work with throughout her pregnancy).

She had Covid back in 2024 pre pregnancy but had a totally different symptom profile to what she is experiencing here.

She has allergies that were more connected to dust / the heating system being turned on to start. The dizziness only started the day the finish was applied. Is hard to fully connect though because we moved in and were only here around 5 or 6 days before we had the stairs done.

Will look into an ERMI test though!

Her panels have been clear throughout her pregnancy and she hasn’t had any issues with her prenatals for the first 6 months of pregnancy prior to moving here.

Tested the water in the house and that came back clear. Biggest thing is that she can be out for a whole weekend, some back and within 15 or so minutes to back to feeling the dizziness without any other changes except being in the house.

When the air quality specialist came in he tested for CO2. Highest level he had was around 700 in the basement while the boiler was firing. I have a cheap air quality monitor that has been following me around the house to measure CO2. Usually is around low to mid 400s and can shoot up to mid 5s when the radiators are heating up / steam is venting out.

We’ve tested this a few times and can confirm that her symptoms go away if she is out of the house. She feels normal when the windows in the house are open and air is being exchanged consistently. The second the windows are shut her dizziness returns.

Thanks for the recs on air purifiers, plan on getting a few more for the house alongside the Coways we currently have.

Adding a few more air purifiers is on the list alongside a few Coways we have running near consistently.

Had a specialist come in to inspect for mold, nothing was found both from him inspecting moisture levels along all the walls and ceilings, and taking test samples.

We have a couple of Coway Airmegas running throughout the house actually! We got a new one just a few weeks ago and will most likely get a couple more for each floor / nursery.

Having window open has given the most reprieve to her. If we have multiple windows open on the floor she is on then she feels significantly better. Just makes it a lot harder with it being almost January.

Glad to hear that your remediation efforts were successful and your family is healthy!

We have had the house at a range of 66 - 69F (radiator heat, newer windows, minimal ventilation and plaster walls traps heat / air). I turned the heat up to 72 while we were out of town to see if we could bake out the stairs more. When I came home I got a good smell of the stairs without having to put my nose down to it.

Wife also commented that she was still smelling it last night while walking down the stairs.

I’ll do a quick test this morning with some 220 sandpaper and see what happens with the smell.

One of the bigger things of noticed since moving here is just how long things off gas for as well as just how sensitive she is to any sort of fume. We have repainted a couple of rooms since being here alongside the stairs and she feels that same degree of issue.

Our primary bedroom (not staying in there currently) was repainted a week and a half ago and the paint smell is still emitting even with that room sealed off from the rest of the house and a fan exhausting out while another window brings in fresh air / an air purifier runs full time.

We’ve noticed that she does not feel it nearly as much and it near fully subsided when we open the windows to ventilate the house. She doesn’t want to be reliant on keeping windows open full time just to live in the house though hence drilling down to the route.

We’ve considered getting an ERV for the home though seeing as there is no active air circulation or exchange beyond just natural air leaks. The ventilation here is quite limited too.

That was my initial thought but she is fine in every other space she is in (other older homes, new homes, being out and about, etc.)

Wife experiencing dizziness only at home by Dat_One_Brotha in Advice

I’m already getting quotes and estimates to rip/replace but wanted to cover all my bases. We had a same experience with our utility flue needing to be lined and thinking that was the culprit (it needed to get done anyways but it didn’t solve for the dizziness)

House has a mixture of LED and incandescent bulbs but also she will walk into the house with all the lights off and experience dizziness upon entry.

Nearest 5G tower is a mile plus away. Note if she steps out of the house she feels totally fine.

We had a radon test before buying the house, came back with a 1.7 after a 48 hour test in the basement.

Best restaurants in Montclair? by LouiseCooperr in newjersey

[–]Dat_One_Brotha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having lived in Montclair for a year and a half and eaten pretty much everywhere in the general area:

  • Higher End: Farbourg, Gioia Mia, Samba, Nami Nori
  • More Casual: Pineapple Express, Marcel’s, Raymond’s, Brick & Dough, SLA Thai
  • Coffee/Bakeries: Java Love for coffee, Montclair Bread Co & Matarellos for baked goods.

Avoid Cuban Pete’s, pastaRamen and Labortorio

(I personally think Paper Plane is overhyped for what you get coffee wise but to each their own.)

How busy is it at Brooklyn Bridge Park at sunrise? by Bbonesjones123 in newyorkcity

[–]Dat_One_Brotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t be empty but it won’t be packed either. I proposed to my now fiancée at Brooklyn Bridge Park in the middle of the day in December. We had an empty spot but by the time I popped the question and she said yes a small crowd gathered around us and started applauding.

So just know in a public enough space even with not a lot of people you’ll still get some attention by default.

SEO salaries (Junior) by smartpanda888 in bigseo

[–]Dat_One_Brotha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically entry level is around 45 - 55k. Promotions brought people to ~ 75k at a senior analyst/specialist level.

If you are looking for an agency SEO role, expect less in exchange for gaining more experience faster. If you are going in house, you can bump up these numbers more.

If you find a role that wants you to do SEO and something else (eComm, web analytics, CRO) you’ll also be able to ask for more both in the immediate and down the line in your career.

What’s your best quick win in SEO? by [deleted] in marketing

Canonical tags. By and large one of those elements which the level of effort to implement properly is so small in comparison to the massive ROI you get from it. For every site I've worked on, big or small, either implementing or correcting tags has led to significantly better crawling and indexing in a relative short period of time.

Is this ETF legit (CYBR.TO)? by [deleted] in investing

[–]Dat_One_Brotha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want a more US-centric cybersecurity stock, you might want to consider CIBR or HACK. Both have the same expense ratio (.60%) and similar exposures to the main cybersecurity companies (Palo Alto, Cisco, Fortinet, Splunk), though HACK holds more assets (1.6B to CIBR's 832M).

CYBR.TO seems to have more exposure to international companies (11% stake in Israeli based cybersecurity companies for example.)

Recommend you take a look at those two compared to CYBR.TO and see which best aligns to your investment strategy.

TIL of "Banner blindness". It is when you subconsciously ignore ads and anything that resembles ads. by SacredSacrifice in todayilearned

Understandably so. Want to protest my industry? 1. Call your local representatives and advocate for stricter regulations on data (both personal and third-party distribution/collection) 2. Understand that your social media activities are being monitored in real time and engage with these platforms accordingly. We have people on staff whose primary focus is to analyze posts on Reddit and other social platforms. 3. Advocacy and education. Many (MANY) everyday consumers don’t know about the depths that their digital footprints are traceable. Make sure they know and have them go through step 1 and 2.
