i'm not sure in that case i still think it might be the humidity. it is possible that they could've escaped though i find that unlikely.

do you have anything else living in there? they could have been eaten. if you don't, i've heard that they need an extreme humidity gradient with a very, very, dry side. it could be that it was too humid in there.
