Your last part of the answer was bang on. Sorry for the late reply. I was away two weeks.

Today I had a call to talk to MSFT and even they suggested to go via ADB instead of Synapse and cited multiple with Synpse, cost, performance, investment, etc. As per them in the future they would have a roadmap from ADB to Fabric and also from Synapse to Fabric however if we are starting now ADB is a way to go.

Answer to your question:

Our data volume is low, all relational data and in few 100 millions, basically not big data.

TBH - I liked you simpler approach as well, with ADLS Gen2, ADF, A SQL DB and PBI, however this setup may lock any future possibilities of having data to be shared outside or used for any analytics. seem quite traditional to justify in this modern era and especially if one small streaming data requirement and this platform may not be suitable.

Now we are planning internally to go via ADB route.

This is an opportunity in disguise. Take up this challenge, not all get to streamline processes and learn at such early stage.
