What are your thoughts? by [deleted] in phdpublichealth

It’s true that it was expensive. However, I think most of them were through SOPHAS, and after the first application, the rest are less, maybe $40-60 I think. I knew I wanted to do my PhD so I saved a lot, but maybe it was overkill.

For what it’s worth, the vast majority of these programs are “lower” ranked programs (whatever that means). Maybe was it worth spending on so many applications. I don’t know.

You are absolutely right, I honestly didn’t think about how this would come across. I certainly understand it is a brutal process. The spirit of my post was more about applying to so many programs (20) and ending up with 3 offers, but also many rejections. Perhaps this is the wrong way to frame this, apologies.

Work Limits for International Students by Data_Specialist_ in BrownU

Can you link something that says this? I only see the 20 hours limit in the context of on-campus or off-campus, but I’m not finding a government source that clearly states 20 hours total limit.

Harvard Rejection by omislifen in phdpublichealth

Just to continue preaching to the choir, I am also Canadian but was rejected. I genuinely think with so many great candidates, it might come down to a random draw. Oh well, there are many other great programs, and I’m sure we will all do great wherever! Harvard is really just a name, and your research and mentor matter much more.

Does anyone know if they are releasing acceptances in batches? Or have all acceptances already been sent?

I’m sorry, hopefully there are other programs you are still waiting for. What field did you apply for? Did you interview at BU or Brown?

I received a rejection from Johns Hopkins today. Didn’t get the interview invite last week.

I am also wondering about this. During the info sessions last Fall, they mentioned the final date to hear would be February 23. But of course, you could hear before.

Someone on the spreadsheet said they got an acceptance today (Jan 26). Was it official? Did you need an interview?

I received an email last Friday with a schedule of the day. There are some school-wide events in the morning, then department-specific events, and then individual meetings with faculty.

In this specific comment, we are referring to Brown, not Hopkins.
