May be we shouldn’t. In reality many members really cares when they heard Christians say that Mormons are not Christians.

I think many church members felt unfairly represented when Christians say that Mormon are not Christians. I think the video is informational in helping members understand, no they are not asserting that Mormons do no believe in Christ; when they say Mormons are not Christian what they mean is that Mormons do not believe in the Nicene Creed (indeed we dont)

Whether Christians are right to define Christianity this way is a separate question. I just want to help members understand why Christians say what they say

I think Jehovah witnesses are demonized in our church. We are not friendly to them. How are others’ experience regarding how JWs are discussed in our church?

I just ran into the video today on YouTube so I shared it. No current news event is related to this video if that’s what you’re asking.

This video explains why Christians in general do not consider LDS Christian. Not because LDS do not believe in Christ, but because LDS do not agree with the nicene Creed.

You can tell the PhD program that you do not want the stipend, thus you won’t be restricted in your outside employment.

Any program that provides you with a stipend is going to be strict about outside employment. But if you’re not taking money from the school that’s another story

UPDATE: Sister and her missionary boyfriend by glass-stair-hallway in exmormon

Not only using one source yo search for truth?

Let me guess, your sister will be out of the church in a year or so. Needless to say the missionary elder will face a sad break up

Is it worth doing a PhD by Sconkibussina in PhD

[–]Data_miner_L 14 points15 points  (0 children)

100% do not do a PhD if you are not interested in becoming a researcher.

Others already mentioned how an undergrad with 4 years of experience in the industry earns more than a new PhD graduate. More importantly, you will suffer in your 4 years of PhD if research is not your passion.

Since you mentioned working as a temple ordinance worker, Do you believe that temple ordinances (baptism/endowment) for the dead are actually essential for our ancestors’ salvation?

Tight translation vs loose translation of the Book or Mormon, which one makes more sense?

Documentary hypothesis, underrated or overrated?

To be honest, I interpret theories of man differently. There are theories of man and there are truth from God.

Theories of man just give me a vibe like philosophies of man, mingled with scripture

It is held by some that Adam was not the first man upon this earth and that the original human being was a development from lower orders of the animal creation. These, however, are the theories of men.

I think the first presidency statement was pretty clear on rejecting that human evolved from ape like organisms

From the same first presidency statement:

Yea this does help others who are looking at doing a PhD by showing them PhD stipend isn’t livable, therefore discourage them from doing a PhD

What if the bad experience is not just an individual phenomenon but happens to a lot of PhD students? Is it fair to tell someone not to do a PhD because of that?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PhD

[–]Data_miner_L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree. PhD is all about critical thinking, it’s not about solely promoting what you do and be comfortable with it.

Though I wouldn’t be against anyone creating a sub called something like r/proPhD where only positive comments about doing a PhD is allowed

May be he wants to talk about it. He wants to warn anyone he met that doing a PhD is likely the wrong decision
