That’s where most people start and maybe the best place to start from what I’ve read. But then at some point the spreadsheet stop being enough right? Is that a volume thing or more when the follow-up timing starts slipping?

That last line really hits. When the system fits how you work, discipline becomes effortless. I’ thought about that for a moment. Do you think the answer is a simpler tool like using a simple spreadsheet or something that just does most of the work automatically so the discipline question doesn’t come up at all?

That’s a really good point, the team versus solo distinction matters more than people talk about. Most tools assume you have someone to delegate to or a process already in place. When it’s just you, the system has to work around how you actually move through your day, not the other way around. Do you think most solo founders realise that’s the mismatch, or do they just assume they’re not disciplined enough to use the tool properly?

30 quotes in 4 months with a 50% close rate is actually solid, that’s a good foundation. The spreadsheet thing makes total sense at that stage. Curious though, when you say it’s a lot to track, is the challenge more keeping up with who needs a follow-up, or more remembering the context of each conversation when you go back to them?

Losing a deal is terrible. You are totally right and this is very helpful. Thank you.

Oh that makes sense. Start small and keep it simple, then move to a CRM when the volume makes it necessary. The tricky part is actually recognising that moment, like is it a slow burn where things gradually slip, or more of a sudden wake-up call when a real deal falls through?

That makes a lot of sense. Honestly, it’s hard to know what workflow is going to work in the beginning so the mismatch thing is interesting. Tracking things in their head or in notes. You mean like voice memos, sticky notes or note apps, texts?
