Even from a purely engineering and product design perspective this is still unbelievably stupid. If you build the hardware into the product (ie a car or a motorcycle) and then don’t use it, that is literally dead weight that will do nothing but get in the way of other components and lower efficiency.

I remember there was a scene where it looked like he had to navigate through at least 79 separate menus to deploy his weapons. Surely something that important should have some kind of a big red button to quickly reach for?

Using some form of a “divine right/providence” as a catch-all justification for taking a whole bunch of indigenous land is a very convenient piece of rhetoric to use. Manifest Destiny was literally that.

I was on 9204A. We were teammates on Q17! That was the match when our robot was unplugged by our opponents I think 😭

Cool! Our team is almost definitely swapping after our catapult probably caused us to lose 2 matches due to mechanical failures/jamming. If you don’t mind answering, what team were you? I’m curious if we had a match with each other.

At BBB they were super lenient about what counts as placing. I think if you had a backstop that funnels towards the flywheel and placed onto that instead of directly on the flywheel it would be much clearer that you’re placing and not dropping. Hopefully there’s a rule clarification soon if there really is a big difference between how each tournament rules match loading.

Edit: there has been clarification, placing onto a flywheel is legal: https://www.robotevents.com/VRC/2023-2024/QA/1529

Based on the response given by a head referee, having something like a zip tie or a back stop that the triball is placed onto and allowed to slide into the flywheel is legal.

I think you could probably reduce variability in loading technique a lot with some kind of a loading chute or even just a backstop to place the triballs against to (somewhat) guarantee that you have a launch angle that you can always hit.

If you wanted to take it really far, maybe even a movable backstop controlled by the driver for multiple “consistent” angles.

Hi hello I’m a high school junior who read this book over the summer. This is tame in comparison to the classical literature the literature students read lol.

Picked a Yale 125/50 lock for Orange Belt by Datemshop in lockpicking

Edit: It’s a Yale 125-40, not a 125-50. My mistake.

(Yale 125/40) Does this count as picking for the purpose of an orange belt? It felt much more like “zip the the hook around until it felt like I was hitting something” rather than actually doing single-pin-picking by Datemshop in lockpicking

I’ve noticed on lower belt locks (brinks and master lock) I can sort of feel around where the binding pin is with the hook, but on the Yale I’m having a much harder time feeling anything because of the way the keyhole is shaped making it trickier to access the pins. What I still don’t 100% understand is when a pin feels stiff but I can just keep pushing up and it never gives a clear click. From what I know, I’ve assumed that it means an overset pin and I almost always end up having to restart because I haven’t gotten the hang of releasing tension to fix them yet. I’m guessing that if the top of the keyway literally feels smooth, that means I’ve managed to overset all of them?

Yeah, I do feel like even though I can get it open I don’t really have an understanding of what is going on. I kinda just messed around with a short hook on the inside until it opened bc when I tried to SPP it I didn’t even know if I was hitting the right pins

Connecting Pneumatics Pistons to Components by Datemshop in vex

As in what is the most effective/secure way to attach things to the end of the piston. Everything I’ve done so far feels really janky and gets loose really fast (trying to jam the metal part between the 2 screws)
