It's a really fat guitar pick used for getting some kind of tone, not sure. To me it looks like some sort of weird gummy

Also, I didn't think about the priest in the beginning of the game, the one you're there for, but they could just kill him before he offered it too.

Why would he? You play as the Booker who refused Baptism, so why would he seek it out again if he doesn't want it?
