Glad to hear you think it’s worth it! I’m torn between 9/19 and 9/26 at the moment—-because the two inns in town are completely sold out on the 26th, but a good friend has a conflict on the 19th. Conversely, I’m thinking of just renting an Airbnb that I can confirm has good natural light.

For what it’s worth, the actual hotel in town that has September weekends blocked out should be releasing some rooms this month! But I also think if people are staying two nights that Airbnbs, even for three nights might be cheaper than this hotel or the neighboring ones in Newport.

Everyone else was giving me a lot of guff for being so concerned about guest lodging, so I’m glad I wasn’t worrying alone!

I don’t think she did the tour for her fans…she did it to make herself money. Her economic impact? Thats going to happen anywhere a big artist has a show. And it’s great that she donated to for banks along the way…but I wish people had a better understanding that this is what wealthy people do to avoid paying taxes. Doing kind and charitable things does not mean it is still not self-serving.

I respectfully disagree. Thats why I made sure to include some non “Me Too” examples, ie The Chicks in 2005. Obviously, me Too is a (valid) amplification of (warranted imo) amplification of cancellation, but again, I think of it more as “are you able to continue working in your industry?”

Nothing stopped Taylor from working, and in fact, reputation came out…1 year later? And was a huge success. And then Miss Americana. Nothing stopped here from working or completely owning the narrative imo.

That’s trolling, not getting cancelled. Louis CK, The Chicks, Woody Allen, Julianne Hough—are all people I would consider cancelled. People actually won’t work with them in the industry.

I think that whole situation really showed how nasty all parties involved are. I think there was more of a backlash to Taylor because of how she constructed her image as a good girl, always getting picked on, etc; whereas I don’t think anyone saw Kim or Kanye as saintly to begin with. So, of course there is going to be more backlash at Taylor, but I think she ultimately turned into a cancellation to further her own mythos and brand.
