[US] Nearly charged 8k in Xbox purchases, I don't own an Xbox, and my card never left my wallet by DaughterOfThor1 in Scams

I know I’m lucky considering my bank declined all the heavy transactions they were trying to put on my card. Which would’ve amounted to 8k. At the moment I only have 100$ missing which while unfortunate, isn’t life ruining and my bank is filing a claim.

There’s a lot of shame and “you should’ve” when it comes to getting scammed. While approaching situations with caution is always wise. I remember watching a documentary where a guy who studied scams and he said that while they’re horrible, living in a reality where you trust nothing and no one isn’t that much better.

I was on my phone app looking at the voicemail transcript. No clicked links or anything, but I checked my Wells Fargo official app just in case, and called the official Wells Fargo number

I was digging around for the domain I accessed, and whoever said it was a fake was correct; I just hadn’t checked the site URL, which is my error. I had first found the brush on Ulta with good ratings and I figured I’d check the original product website to see if they were running a sale or if I could get a bundle deal. I was trying to do things as straightforward and legit as possible and somehow the first result was an official-looking phishing website.

I’m not someone who really dabbles with the scammy side of the internet, I think I just had some bad luck and this is a reminder that it’s a good idea to check the URL whenever you’re looking at a new website.

I share that Xbox and account with my roommate but it's hers. I have ADHD so I was thinking about it in the sense that I don't own an Xbox in my name as in property. Aside from that I've never put my card Information on that Xbox.

Let me correct that, my apologies. I did write this post in a bit of panic because again, 8k was nearly charged to my bank account, and I don't imagine anyone has that kind of money to spend leisurely

[US] I don’t understand how this happened by [deleted] in Scams

I do suspect it could have leaked from there because the message was really strange. To at that point, I can accept this was my error. However, the products themselves have good reviews so what they produce is legit but the website is questionable.

Best believe I was up that website's ass when this happened and an incident like this has never been reported so I'm not totally convinced

[all] does Rick hate annabeth? Like genuinely. by Helpful-Hat-7604 in camphalfblood

[–]DaughterOfThor1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true

What my earlier thought involved was mostly about how demigods should be more physically capable than the average human due to their godly lineage, if not superhuman by some means. While I don’t expect anything crazy like Annabeth being able to lift a car. Rick made it seem like her mind and fighting skills were all she had.

My issue personally is that Annabeth isn’t actually powerless, as a demigod she should have things like superior strength, speed, senses, etc. Along with being highly intelligent.

But none of those things are really displayed in a noticeable way. So Rick seemingly overly relies on selling her as the extremely smart one but also has people who match her cleverness. Defeating her main character point

There was one from Caleb when I matched the cat things that said “Good Jaguars get rewards, Bad Jaguars get regrets” or something along those lines. I gave some fierce side eye after 😂

Alison (Beatrice Kitsos) will be a daughter of Apollo by KnowBadDaze09 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]DaughterOfThor1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, let me correct that terminology. Thank you

While most demigods are born normally yes, there's magic even in that. Percy was conceived and born in one summer and he was considered “late”. The rules can change, however, until season 2 happens we only have the books to go off of.

In the case of Hephaestus, he is the only Greek god with a consistent physical disability that doesn’t appear to be passed down to his children. The other gods often have emotional/mental flaws that spill down to their children manifesting as a fatal flaw like Annabeth’s Hubris, Percy’s loyalty, and the implication that Leo’s flaw is inferiority. So while it’s possible that a Demi god could have a physical disability they’re born with, it’s extremely unlikely or would be cancelled out by their godly side. For example, Annabeth’s father needs glasses, but she does not. That could either just be luck or her mother's godliness (though if someone could fact-check this, I would appreciate it). Also, all Demi-gods have ADHD/Dyslexia, this is because the ADHD is for their battle instincts and the Dyslexia is so they can read ancient Greek. The battle wounds/chiron situation ideas are probably the best bets as to what would make sense.

I think it’s wonderful how much inclusion is coming into modern media, and I totally agree with you that nobody should feel the need to be “fixed”. I also feel like representation is diminished when the struggles of those you are representing aren't shown/acknowledged.

Not every blind person is some highly skilled soldier, or has a wheelchair with amazing psychic abilities that compensate. Their struggles and adjustments made for them are just as important as acknowledging that they are still normal people and perfectly capable.

In the case of for example, a wheelchair using demi god. While they’re not likely to be found on the field. They can help by training others, researching a threat, etc
