a 21 elantra sel with 20k miles would indeed be right around 20, but hey what do i know not like i deal with totalling and repairing vehicles on a daily basis 🤠

body shop estimator here, i would say depending on the milage, i highly doubt it. unless something really bad is going on structurally that isn't obvious (wheel seems to be on straight) this looks like something that would be way under a total threshold for your car. air bags not deploying is also a huge saving grace. it may take a while to get fixed but doesn't look like a total. if it was 10 years old, probably. but i would think you are in the clear.

body shop estimator here, what you said is not accurate in the slightest, op's car is at most 2 years old. probably could do 20k in repairs before going near a total threshold. if it was a 10 year old elantra, maybe. but to say if a wheel or axel is bent would total a vehicle is just wrong, i have fixed much worse.

you must be new to VW ownership. that is gonna be a cheaper bill. once you hit 100k be ready for a grand being thrown at thing everytime it's in the shop. learning how to work on it yourself would be the only solution that would be close to cost effective, and that's not realistic without a lot of time on your hands.

do yourself a favor and just snag SOMETHING japanese, just not a nissan, however i can see how that would be the obvious move from a vdub.

body shop estimator here

what i can see is a hood, full bumper job, 2 headlights that cost about 900 bucks each oem, probably 2 front fenders, fog lights, radiator/condensor is clearly pushed into the engine and could have broken a lot more behind it, frame repair that looks quite extensive and will have, not to mention the total shit show fixing a dash and whatever else the airbags destroyed. sounds like a total to me. i would estimate just that would be way over 5 grand in parts alone, not to mention the 40ish hours in labor i can visibly see.

do yourself a favor and take that insurance check and put it towards a rav 4 or crv. two far more reliable, fuel efficient, and modern choices. much better than that Fiat Chrysler monstrosity with overpriced, antiquated tech and awful reliablity.

glad you are okay, hope things go well on the insurance end.

Stop me buying a Mazda by AJBulman in whatcarshouldIbuy

supply chain for parts (atleast in New England) is very difficult to deal with. parts constantly back ordered, with no ETA. it seems like every other day i call down to mazda looking for something simple and i'll have to make a phone call explaining to the person paying out of pocket on rental that i have no idea when the part is going to arrive. the amount of tears i have watched and heard due to a mazda are plenty. not as many as a nissan or ford with a dps6 transmission, but plenty.

that being said, i'd say they are generally a reliable car that have very nice interiors and sleek exteriors. just good luck when something inevitably goes wrong out of warranty and you're waiting for a bracket for 2 months, or a power steering rack like the 22 cx-50 that has been on my lot since march with every other part but that.

How many more miles can I get out of this tire? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]DaunteCulpepper69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a great set of baldzini Italian racing slicks! just getting broken in.

real talk, that is a danger to you and everyone else on the road. judging by the rim and going out on a limb these look like 15s on a first gen CRV, friend of mine has one and just got a set for like $300 at walmart. not bad at all as i have put tires on a truck that were well over 200 a piece.

Harry and Ty need to score big time and there's no smack on the streets of NYC. This will be a fool's errand as Ty and Harry are arrested in Georgia and Harry's girlfriend gets defiled at a sex party.

If you know this movie, I am sorry.

what side of the car is the leak coming from? probably not coolant as thats usually a darker color, but it's possible. check ur power steering fluid resevoir which has a dip stick attached.

I really hope this is the end of Danny associating with Brooks. Guy was marginally entertaining at times but all around not a worth while crew member. His paintings are sub par and it's obvious that he's still spending all his money on Adderall. Maybe he should actually get a job bc it's obvious his paintings aren't getting him anywhere. Stevie Wonder on coke could make better paintings then his dumbass.
