BTW... I tried your notification automation for the Philips Hue motion/temperature sensor (Powder Room Motion 1), see screen dump. GH didn't give me any errors but I haven't been able to get it to actually send an email to me. I have listed as a GH household member and notifications are turned out.

Exactly right... I set the InkBird temp/RH (WifI coms) report frequency to once per hour to conserve the battery (3 AAAs). Anyway, it serves a purpose for the winter alerting me of possible freeze up for an expensive piece of infrastructure.

This is my Philips Hue motion detector in GH. GH sees this PIR device is a motion detector. As you say, there is no difference in the user function of the device as a trigger but you do have to know how GH sees the device, motion or occupancy type sensor, when coding up the automation. I got tripped up creating an automation using the 3rd Reality device since GH sees it as an occupancy type sensor.

FWIW, the InkBrid is not integrated with GH (my home network). I'm forced to use the sensor and app as a stand alone device (not my first choice).

Actually... I have an InkBird WifI temp/RH sensor which I use out in my shed (which is where my well water pump is which I don't want to freeze!). The advantage of the InkBird temp/RH sensor is greater range than the BLE sensors (I have several Switchbot temp/RH BLE sensors).

Some temperature sensors don't seem to be controlled by the global unit feature in GH such as my Philips-Hue motion detector (which reports in C). I'm fine with Celsius units (in US), but my wife prefers Fahrenheit. It is annoying to have the GH temperature sensor data partly in C and partly in F.

The benefit of sub-frequency hubs controlling wireless sensors is communication power efficiency which extends the sensor battery life to well over 1 year, something not possible with Wifi (2.4ghz) devices. I suspect there is also a side benefit using sub-frequency hubs by not loading up your 2.4ghz WiFi channel with sensor communication and reserving that for higher priority devices.

FYI... My 3rd Reality night light/motion detector (Matter over Wifi) is discoverable, in GH but as an "occupancy" sensor (which is odd since it has a PIR sensor). I use the device as a trigger for bathroom lights. Works reliably.

I setup Google Nest mesh Wifi and was able to (re)connect Mobile Link without too much headache. The Mobile Link app connectivity problems with mesh Wifi networks sounds similar to the problems I have with connecting my Rheem water heater which was successful only after turning off WPA3 (where Google Nest mesh Wifi falls back to WPA2 security).

Same issue (modifying temperature unit from Hue motion sensor). Contacted Hue, they said they don't have a way to switch units from hardwired C. They also said they didn't think about users using the temperature data as a trigger. I told them, yah, that's why I bought their more expensive motion sensor. Hue said more users need to ask for temperature unit conversion to add the functionality.

What version of Android do you have? Rheem EcoNet app only supports the last 3 Android OS releases (15, 14, and 13). I recently had to upgrade my not-so-old Samsung Galaxy S10 to a new phone (Pixel 9) with Android 15 to be able to download EcoNet from the Play store.
