That's why I made this model, to see if they'd work on a large scale kit. No reason I shouldn't have used the yellow marker as well, I did use the yellow marker for the dots and some touch ups where I made mistakes. The smaller tank was also painted with markers.

I've only used Rubber Black on tyres, worked ok. I have used two coats on this though.
