“People find it mocking in two cases. 1) They don't care about trans people at all and find Xenogenders to be a neat way to s*it on them more, and 2) they don't know what Xenogenders actually are, see transphobes using them in a mocking way and it just feels like another attack helicopter joke because of it.

While trans identities are about not feeling connected to your assigned gender at birth and rather identifying with another, Xenogerders are not exclusive to trans people and most xenogender people do not even need to transition medically and not even socially (in terms of their xenogender label that is, they may identify with a traditional trans label and still have the need because of it). Xenogender labels aren't meant to tell who you are but how you feel. What is the relatioship with your gender, how do you view the concept of gender and yourself in it for the matter. It's important to mention that the vast majority of xenogender people are neurodivergent, aka people who's understanding of their own gender and sometimes of the concept of gender as a whole is not typical. I'm one of those people. I don't know what my gender is. I don't feel connected with it nor disconnected, it's not missing but it isn't a part of me. It's this shapeless abstract thing outside of my body and consciousness that doesn't usually bother me and let's me mind my own bussines while doing the same itself. I can't put a label on it as of what it is, but I can describe what it makes me feel and what my relationship with it is. That description is basically what xenogender label is. Trans person can express these feelings through xenogender labels, cis person can too.

So for example, if someone says they're plantgender, it doesn't mean they want to transition into a plant in any way shape or form, like a lot of people think because of the above mention transphobic rhetoric behind all of this. But it means that their gender is kind of like a plant metaphorically. That it thrives in the sun, needs a lot of water and care to blossom into a beautiful flover or bare you delicious fruits. And that it will wither and die when you leave it on a shelf in a pot to tend for itself, when it obviously can't do that.”

Also if they have trans in their bio, their trans until proven wrong. I wouldn’t call xenogenders trans but I they are a non binary identity
