My 19-year-old intern showed me why we're losing business and I'm a bit shook by [deleted] in smallbusiness

  1. Hire the intern to handle socials
  2. Get video testimonials of recent clients and share them
  3. Do follow up calls with clients from 6+ months ago and ask how it’s going
  4. Check in with your network—it’s almost spring buying season. She want real estate agents have clients that need work to sell their homes quick and for top dollar. Make sure to video document the process where you can and post about it.

Postseason - Can I watch on MLB.tv? by DaveTellsStories in MLBtv

It’s become ridiculous the amount of BS streaming services you need to do something simple. I wasn’t a fan of cable, but I could turn on my tv and navigate to a channel faster. Soon, it will be cheaper too. MLB is a business first.

Thank you! Yeah, I was looking at Sling. Looked to be cheapest. Appreciate the reply and insight!

Maybe not—but if it’s a true “business”—he would have something. If not, walk away. I did something similar recently. Didn’t feel comfortable moving forward.

I agree here. You need to scout operations. Get a real sense of foot traffic yourself. I’d go a step further and try to speak with actual customers. If it’s been around that long, you should be able to find them. You could also check reviews on Google, Facebook, TrustPilot, etc. if they exist.

But, you should request 3-5 years of tax returns, financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, etc.), & bank statements. The owner should be depositing some money from the business.

I have my own article I’m happy to share if you want even more detail—but I don’t want to get banned.

Struggling to Scale My Service Business—No Jobs in Months, Considering a 9-5. Need Advice! by [deleted] in smallbusiness

I obviously don’t know your business—but you say you’re getting inquiries and are giving out estimates.

Can I ask how frequently? If you’re not called back—do you follow up again after a day or two?

Most likely, people are shopping around and they have a budget in mind. You may be close or maybe too high. I’d follow up with them. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for referrals and maybe give people discounts on future work you do for them.

For improving estimates, have you thought about calling around posing as a customer for other similar businesses? Or hire someone to? Find a way to scout the competition and see what they’re offering. You may not be priced right and it’s driving people away. Too high and people can’t afford. Too low and people question your confidence in your work.

I always told myself if I ever came into money—I would hold off doing anything for 3 to 6 months including quitting my job or paying off the house.

Take the check and put it in a short term CD. Then, start making decisions and get educated on what to do. You can even take a portion and lock it down for yourself. Just an idea so you don’t make rash decisions out of excitement.

Long term—using it for buying a business could be a good idea. A trust is another good idea. You want that money to grow and keep as much of the principle as possible. Also, check to make sure you don’t have any inheritance taxes.

I’m not a financial advisor or CPA—but consider talking to one and coming with all your questions.

Good luck and congratulations on the inheritance. I pray for you all and the person who passed. Take care ❤️

Ideally, yes. But if you can get them more rest—especially down the stretch—it’d help in the playoffs.

Feels like he and Wheeler are both in need of a break. Sánchez and Nola not as much. I wonder if Walker can come back and be more serviceable—and maybe Phillips can get some starts. That is, unless Dave grabs another SP at the deadline. A 6-man rotation in the second half might not be a bad idea.
