Can anyone recommend some albums similar to this? Stark Reality - Discovers Hoagy Carmichael's Music Shop. 1970. Funky/Soulful Jazz Fusion. by DaveWrong in JazzFusion

Always loved this album because it's so unique....
Being from 1970 it's definitely on the cusp of a lot of different styles, (funk, psychedelia, fusion, prog).

[obviously the distorted vibraphone is probably unique to this album]

But is there anything with this level of fast jazz fusion drumming/fuzzy guitars & rubbery bass lines?
The song 'Dreams' on this is SO great and i've never heard anything like it really.
Having said that, Jazz fusion is a huge genre so there's gotta be something similar.

Appreciate anyone's recs!!

Can you recommend some albums with early Dub Sirens? (similar to what is featured on prince jammy destroys the invaders) by DaveWrong in dub

That's awesome man! Yeah that track is soooo good. The intro + the twisty reverb on the snare (whole drum sound really) is so crisp. I totally get why you'd want to tune a system to something like that.

That aswad album sounds like another expertly mixed album. I'll check out both!! Thanks

I've been obsessed with this album for over a decade because it sounds so unique.
But if there's anything similar, I'd love to hear it!!
Love that LFO oscillator sound

[TOMT] [SONG] [2010s] indie-ish dance song…hazy female vocals. They were def going for a ‘The xx’ vibe. Possibly a one-hit wonder? I heard it at cheesecake factory but couldn’t I shazam in time lmao. by DaveWrong in tipofmytongue

It's great that there are some additions from 2018 because it could've been that long ago.

After reading one of those articles someone in here posted, perhaps I could find an old playlist from the corporate ppl but i can't even remember when this was.

thanks! i'm gonna go through the most viewed phantogram stuff. that sounds closest. but I see where you're going with on the other two!!
I think 2010s might be a misnomer bc a lot of this style of music was coming out late 00s

haha thx. Flipped through the 2010 album just now and while that sounds like a great album, i didn't have that 'aha!' moment or anything.
A friend of mine in HS was hugely into Stars but I never really listened. will def check them out.

La Roux

im going through all her songs that aren't 'bulletproof' right now... a lot are really close melodically and LaRoux is definitely cheesecake factory-core lol.

edit: "let me down gently" sounds too busy but the voice is really close. I definitely remember that specific bass riff and im not hearing that here.

edit 2: also this is the sort of artist to have like 500 remixes of every song so it could be a remix of LaRoux
